Hard starting , unsteady idle , stalling , engine surge - 2001 Intrigue

I have a 2001 Intrigue that seems after its warm its hard to start , several cranks. Engine races up and down. Sometimes stalls at idle. Recently the engine races/accelerates briefly while coasting. Any suggestions please ?

I know this is an old thread but here goes anyway.
I have the exact same problem and I think that I have figured it out.
It is your MAF sensor. To test my theory, next time the engine is warm and won't stay running, unplug the MAF sensor and start the car. If it is the MAF sensor then the engine will rev high and then settle and stay running.
Many aftermarket MAF sensors are not right for all Intrigues. It may be necessary for you to find a GM only used part (or new but those are expensive).
