Scott, one 2000 Quad Cab Amber Fire (purchased from Reedman also) could be mine, and the other could be vman who lives in Tullytown. I live in Langhorne. Actually, my choice is usually green, but my wife suggested the Amber Fire after living with 10 or so green trucks and SUV's I have the 4.7 4X4, 5 speed, ID group, 3.55 LSD, Tire and Handling, ST+, skid plates, block heater, 5X9 remote mirrors, fog lights, overhead convenience (computer/compass/temperature gauge and rear slider +++. No upgraded sound, no AS, no bucket seats. Have an A.R.E. tonneau, Westin side bars, and a Manik safari bar. Great truck. Will probably see you around.

...if you haven't noticed already? There is now a "post jump" feature available. It works sorta-kinda like it did in the old TH. This one will allow you to enter a previous message number. Click on "go to" and the page will have the post number you entered and the 20 messages after it.

The Search feature is...comin' along...gettin' better...but still needs some work.

Hi all. I overlooked this part of the forum so I will post my info now. Sorry...
I am Nick Tiritilli in S.E. Nebraska. I have been in Elecronics sales and service for the last 25 years. Served in the Army 1964 to 1967. I bought my 2000 QC new off the lot May 99. It is a SLT 4.7L sweet engine, flame red auto, 3.55Lsd part time 4x4 TH pkg, HD service group, most options. Now has 8k on it with no problems except a howl in rear end. I registered on this forum back in August I think. Previous truck was a 95 Ranger STX super cab 4x4. I ordered it from the factory new. It served me well and I intended to keep it for 10 years or more, that is until I brought the Quad home for a weekend try. Needles to say, it never left! I have enjoyed the advise and sharing any input I could with others here. Ther are some very knowledgeable and good folks here that help new and older members alike. Thanks all. Nick (STnick)

Hello everyone! My name is Bob Roache and I live in Lansdowne, PA - not too far from bookitty! I bought my 2001 Dakota QC 4x4, 4.7L auto, SLT plus, blahblahblah - pretty much loaded except for no higher axle ratio, no tow package, no leather, no power seats, no CD player. Right now I'm in the process of "accessorizing" with the Mopar Deluxe splash guards, powdercoat Westin side bars, darker window tinting, and security system. I had an Immobiliser in my last truck, but it would seem that the East coast installer has been hard to find. I can't wait to put up pixs once I figure out how to start a photo page. I got very lucky to have a great salesman at Miller Dodge in Springfield who found the truck I wanted with some add ons that I didn't initially want (premium overhead, LSD, foglights, skid plate) but now I'm glad I have them. The deal was made a little below invoice and This truck is puuurty! Once again as luck would have it, It was not my color choice because it was already out on a lot in Glenolden, but "Big Lucy" is Forest green pearl coat with two tone silver metallic and wheel flares! I love driving around town and getting strange looks like, what the #@%$ is that, or Woaw-where do I get one of them!!! Hey, let's have a QC convention somewhere and have Dodge foot the bill for publicity!!! We could be on Tel-e-vision!!!!!

Special Event Chat with Ed Hellwig

    Tues., Jan. 30th, 5-6pm PT/8-9pm ET

Ed Hellwig - Associate Editor, Edmunds.com.

Associate editor Ed Hellwig came to Edmunds with a diverse automotive background that included stints as a gas station grease monkey, automotive spy photographer, and ice rink Zamboni driver. Ed spent five years making sure he hated cold weather at the University of Colorado in Boulder where he somehow earned a degree in American history between beer runs and football games. Upon returning, he proclaimed "snow sucks" and forever pledged his allegiance to the Southern California sunshine. Prior to joining Edmunds, Ed toiled under the iron fist of Tom Lindamood at A&M Specialists, a press vehicle logistics company, as a road-tester and delivery driver. While tooling around in Bentleys and Porsches was less than grueling, Ed just couldn't shake the editorial urge and jumped at the chance to join the Edmunds team. He's now responsible for writing road tests, editing our "Future Telling" column, and assisting in performance testing.

    Howdy!
I am in Atlanta and bought a 2001 Quad Cab 4x4 4.7L SLT LOADED with all the fixins (leather, overhead console, premium CD, tires,...). It's Silver with a bedliner and some more extras.
I am excited to be here and look forward to learning about what is happening with everyone's qc. Sure glad I didn't buy a Sport trac or Frontier! This bad boy is a beast!

I first posted early 12-00 when I was researching, then ordered my truck. It came in Monday, and we had a snow/ice storm, so I couldn't get it that day. On the way home from work that night I spun my 90 2wd mitsub P/U with minor damage. Now I'm glad my new truch was in the lot, though it was 4x4 weather and I probably would have been ok with my current truck...
    Which is:
    Black sport plus, CC
    4x4, LSD, 4.7, 3:55, Rear slider, Skids
ROLL DOWN WINDOWS!! I'm a frugal Yank and would rather put some $ into perf mods.
Sincere thanks to all on this board who have helped me pick just the right truck.

I like fast bikes, trucks, and powertools, and sundry other toys.

    Hello,

I'm Rich Meek and I'm an ... oops wrong intro.

Figured it was about time to post after browsing for the past few months. The board was a great reference before I bought my 00 Dakota QC SLT 4x4 5.9 3.92, etc - and it's been a good source of info since. Latest revelation was to increase PSI to 40 if doing mostly freeway driving. As soon as I read it a couple of days ago on the message board I increased mine from 36 to 40. Don't know if it'll make much difference but I "feel" safer.

Just want to add my thanks to those who've been contributing from one of those who hasn't, but eventually will -- really!

So I decided to go with Dodge even after driving Ford trucks for 20yrs. The four doors
are great to have when you have twin boys who like to go camping all the time.
Just had a A.R.E. (Z) topper put on with Yakima racks to carry our kayaks and I
think it looks sharp. Patroit blue truck w/ matching cap. 4.7 auto and no problems yet.
    See Ya..

Hey all!! My name is Eric and I live in Newark, DE. I'm a press operator at a specialty materials co, have 2 rugrats and enjoy free time which I have none of. Ordered a 01 QC, Flame Red/silver trim, 4.7 auto, taupe (tan)leather, 4x4 lsd, SLT Plus blah blah blah on 3/3/01. First American vehicle in about 15 yrs, lord I hope this beautiful QC is HALF as dependable as my 90 Toyota truck was!! Oh yeah, I also own a 00 VW Golf diesel, I highly recommend it as a second vehicle, at 48mpg I'm sure it will help offset the fuel consumption of the V8 when it arrives!
  • biglucybiglucy Member Posts: 140
Greetings Eric and good luck with your new Quad Cab when you get it! You're absolutely right about the fuel consumption - I get about 15 mpg driving the blue route back and forth to work, so don't swallow your tongue! Watch out for the Po-lice in that fine, fine red pickup! I got pulled over the first week I had my new shiny forest green quad cab for no apparent reason, I think the cop just wanted to check it out! He came up to the window and said, "Nice Truck... Brand New?.."
  • bobs5bobs5 Member Posts: 557
I usually get 16 mpg in my normal commute. The 4.7L V8 is very responsive and it is hard to keep the foot out of the gas pedal.
  • namfflownamfflow Member Posts: 202
I have a 97 Club cab SLT 5.2 in Brillant Blue/Driftwood with most options including 2000 lb payload. Added a Gem GT Classic lid to it and switched the OEM tires to Pirelli Scorion Zeros. Tires are great. Recommend them highly Also recomend the lid.

Just ordered another one just like it except a 01 in Red/Silver with the 4.7
  • mailman54mailman54 Member Posts: 111
What size tires are those Pirelli Scorpion Zeros you added to your 97 Club Cab? I have a 91 5.2 R/C that is due for some new rubber. I am sure you will enjoy your 01 4.7, as I have my 00 4.7. Keep on truckin!

My names Greg. Just picked up my 2001 Club Cab Sport 4x4 on Monday night. It's Patriot blue pearl coat with 4.7, auto, CD player and most all the bells and whistles except the computer overhead console. Can't tell ya how much I like this truck. It's a dream to drive. I bought my last truck, a 1986 Ranger Supercab, new in the fall of 85 and have been driving that since. It really was a great truck. Treated me great. The only thing that went out of the usual tires, brakes, and exhaust was the shifter broke at about 20k. I hope this one last me just as long. As a matter of fact, I just handed the keys to the old Ranger over to my 16 yr old son and told him to take care of it. Been reading quite a bit of this discussion board and see there's a lot of great people here. Hope to learn alot and contribute also.

I've had my 01 CC since the first of October and it has been great. Coming from a 2.0 liter Mitsubishi I have been especially impressed with the 4.7.
Posting here is a little sparse during the week as everyone is usually busy. Good to have you aboard and good luck with your new Dak.

    Let me introduce myself:

    NAME: TED SOHONYAY

HANDLE/ALIAS: DAKOTALOVER [I'm the 1st one to use this? I can't believe it--- especially in this news group]

    PROFESSION: TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER

EDUCATION: 4 University Degrees [IOW, more degrees than a &*%%$^ thermometer]

LOCATION: NORTH OF NYC, 20 MI. NORTH OF WHERE THE CLINTONS LIVE [CHAPPAQUA], BUT THE SMELL DOESN'T CARRY.

Just wanted to say hello to all you good folks. I've been lurking here for about 6 months and I've learned a lot. Let me get to the point. I bought a Forest Green '00 Dak CC OFF THE LOT which had all the options: 26G, SLT Plus, HD everything, Tow Group, Skid Plates, LSD, 4Sp Auto, 4.7 V8, 4W anti-lock brakes, the works. Yada, yada, yada. Apparently, the "working truck" folks didn't need all the extras, so it just sat there, waiting for me. The dealer is Pamby Motors in Ridgefield, CT.

I added the following: Sport Masters Soft Tonneau, Penda Bed Liner,Bed X-Tender [best thing ever invented, IMHO], Westin Chrome Nerf Bars, Smittybilt Polished SS Modular Grill Guard, Weathertech window shades, Dodge Custom seat covers [the best fit of them all], and a Mopar/Alpine 6-CD changer [my radio has the CD controls].

BTW, I came up with a simple no-drill-into-the-truck install method for the Dak CC for the 6-CD changer which works rather well for the Dak CC.

    Sorry for the long post.

    Regards to all,

    Ted

Hello and welcome. I too have a forest green, '00 Quad. I am located in Bergen county just at the New York state line. I guess if I see another like mine, it might be U. Luckily the trade winds keep it blowing from west to east!!

Hey my truck is green too! and I have the silver two tone. How 'bout some pictures of that thar truck?!? I love New York as long as I'm heading to the Adirondacks. Yous guys can have da city!
  • namfflownamfflow Member Posts: 202
I replaced the stock 215/75-15 with 255/60-15. They are just a tad smaller on the diameter but not enough to effect the speedo calibration or the computer. The width is the absolute max I would use with the stock 7" rim.

I am not sure what I'll do on the new one as it is coming with 235/75-15 and the closest zero is 255/65-15 but it is only H rated. Even though it is a heavy duty tire for the extra payload (ordered the truck with the 2000 lb payload for the bigger brakes)

Thanks for the welcome folks. Normally, I wouldn't join any club that would have me as a member [;>)], but all of you seem downright NICE.

I didn't know my Bronx [that's right--- DA BRONX] accent showed in my typing. Now before I get back to lurking and learning--- as a graduate of the Andrew "Dice" Clay School of Diplomacy and the Leo Gorcey School of Erudite Diction: I resemble them remarks youse made abod da City.

    NYC Joke:
Q: How many NYers do you need to screw in a lightbulb?
NYers A: Whadda you doin'? Writin' a *&&^% book? Geddatahere before I call a cop.

Hey Boo--- We have another thing in common [besides Daks]: you live in Bucks Co. PA and I was one of the engineers that designed your county's E-911 system.

Hey amend1--- I go to Bergen Co. regularly; I work in Glen Rock [near Paramus]. Maybe I'll see you on the road. BTW, 2 other engineers in my office have Ram 1500s in forest green-- one SLT, one Sport--- they call us the "Green Machine".

Hey biglucy--- ditto on the 2-tone for me. Re: pictures: sorry, this techno-geek hasn't broken down to buy a digital camera yet. Besides, the high polish of the paint & chrome would cause too much glare ;>)
