Also, if there are any Canadians that can tell me what they payed for a V6 Cougar fully loaded with leather and all packages?
Thanks.
When anyone asks me how I like my car I tell them I don't just like it I love it. I commute 60 miles one way to work everyday. My kitty definitely makes the drive fun. She now has 28,000 plus miles on her, and knock on wood, not a hairball from her. She still looks and purrs just like the first day I brought her home.
So if anyone has any doubts, let me put those doubts behind you. The Cougar is definitely worth it.
P.S. I have the V6 with the Sport Group. The only options I didn't get were the side-impact bags and leather interior.
I'm still looking for at the '99 cougar for a good deal. I admit I've only been to 2 dealers so far so I need to look more...but both dealers said that a V6 5 speed would be impossible to find now! One dealer had about 20 Automatics on his lot. Why would anyone want a sports car in automatic. Can anyone tell me if they've had the same experience in their search??? I just couldn't settle for automatic and I really did want the V6. Thanks
Then we came along and saw a very desireable sport coupe at the right price and ran them out of stock on stick shift packages.
One of the reasons that some of us early orderers had to wait months to get our cats, no engine/trans packages. Plenty of ATX, but no MTX were available.
The 99 leftovers are very likely to be ATX.
Only two things to do:
1. Have the dealer check around the area to see if what you want may be available on someone's lot.
2. Order a Y2K just the way you want it and prepare to wait. Hopefully not too long.
Good luck!!!

I got a good deal on my cat, invoice minus 400 for recent college graduate. v6 mtx/sport/conve/spoiler delete.
I highly recommend this book to any women who've never bought a car, it definitely helped me out a lot.
Everything Women Always Wanted to Know About Cars*
*But Didn't Know Who to Ask
by: Lesley Hazleton
It's divided into three main sections, all of which are very well written and informational.
1. General what women want in a car
2. The Buying Process
3. How a car works (engine etc.)
The book is available through Amazon (and other places, too!)
Let me know how things go,
Jen
That's why I want to drive an ATX cat.
To each his/her own.
just a suggestion, good luck
Exactly 5 mo. and a lot of communication with L/M headquarters. Sorta like an elephant's pregnancy
From everything I've been reading, the delivery times are now pretty normal (~6wk).
Good luck.

p.s. i brought my couch home in my saab 900s, too!
found it!!
enjoy it.
Check the tire pressure as the factory tends to ship 'em too hard. Set for 34-36 psi, and the ride and handling both improve.
Drop over to the busiest conference on Edmunds, the C.S.G. (Cougar support group) in the sports car area. The group was so named when a bunch of us were waiting extreme lengths of time for deliveries last year.
Also, look up NECO (New Edge Cougar Owners) at newcougar.org and regester yourself. Lots of good information and a link to another very busy chat line. Local groups have been sponsoring gatherings at different venues such as road racing or drag strips for some performance fun and good fellowship. I missed the first Chicago gathering, but will make the next one for sure.
Good luck:
Skip G.
Any thoughts?
1999 Cougar, v6, ATX, Conv group, minus spoiler, premium cassette.
List price: $18,900.
My price: 17,300.
Total price that lease was based on: $19,500.
This included about $1,000 down, which included $400 graduate discount(my wife is getting masters).
My lease payment is $300 plus Tax($15), 48 month, 12,000 miles per year.
I had slight negative equity in my old car....
Hope this helps!!
Has anyone had any difficulty with this?
Thanks

12K isn't really a lot of mileage for only a year, but it really depends on wether the prior owner did the proper maintenance on it.
It would still be under warranty for 2yr/24k so if you did happen to have a problem, it's fixed for free.
Good luck!!!

e-mail me with any ideas please!!
go in with all the info, and say:
"Look I've been offered 1% over invoice from
(make up a online broker like intellichoice or Autobytel) I really would like to do business locally what can you do for me?"
BTW I paid 400 under invoice on my 99 mtx/sprt/conv/TC/abs/sideair.
I test drove a 1999, white I4, standard transmission coupe/hatchback with convenience group and spoiler. The dealer came down to 16,300, which seems to be about $100 over their invoice.
Whaddaya think?
Price seems reasonable, assuming that there are no other options on that particular vehicle. Just make sure that you have done your homework on a line by line cost basis at:
