To me, a good set of all season/snow tires and a competent driver will go a lot further than a vehicle with 4WD and someone who thinks they are invincible. But what do I know -- coming from Pittsburgh and Cleveland, we only saw something like 10 feet of snow a season...:-)
Where you came from, a person could stand on a pack of cigarettes and see the Pacific Ocean. Here, we have these little things called HILLS and we have LOT's of them!
Cleveland, you are correct, is relatively flat!
Just kidding. Never been to Pittsburgh.
Cleveland, lots of times and no desire to revisit.
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
I'll be back for the first time in just about a year next weekend for a friend's wedding. We'll spend a few days in Cleveland seeing family then head down to Pittsburgh (only about a 2 hour drive) for the wedding itself.
To keep this car related, we'll be borrowing my mother-in-law's Audi Q5 2.0T to make the drive from Cleveland to Pittsburgh for the wedding.
You are looking more at $15k-$16k, depending.

Year/Make/Model: 2004 Mazda MPV LX
Body Style: Minivan
Engine: 3.0L V6
Driveline: FWD
Mileage: 114,000
Color: Silver / Gray
Major Options: LX+ package (tint, fogs, body effects) 4-seasons package (towing, some other stuff), rear spoiler (zoom zoom!). After market in-dash touchscreen JVC double-DIN DVD player with rear camera and 9" overhead monitor to zombify the munchkins on long trips. Class II hitch with 4-pin wiring for towing a little utility trailer.
Condition:
Bought new, never any paint work. Typical 9 year old minivan interior funk but should clean up OK with a good detail - no ripped upholstery / carpet or haz-mat looking stains. Exterior has small parking lot dings and a couple of rock chips but no serious dents in the sheet metal. There is a crack maybe 4-5" long in the rear bumper cover below the right rear tail light where my wife backed into an idiot neighbor kid who parked behind our driveway in the dark. Probably could be repaired, we just didn't bother.
Tires - 50% on all-seasons, extra set of snows on steel wheels with maybe 2-3 more winters in them.
Brakes - Front and rear done in last 20k miles
Maintenance - Lots, but mostly done myself so no dealer records. Battery, belts, coils, plugs, trans / radiator flush, radiator hoses, cooling fan controller, valve cover gaskets, intake boot done in last 15k miles.
Other: No prior damage/insurance claims, repaints, etc.
Looking for a trade-in type number to help set a price for a family member who we're planning to pass it along to. It's been a great little van, and currently has no known mechanical needs.

Roadster in SoCal is going to be pretty strong. The one in Palm Beach probably didn't do so well thanks to the black exterior and slightly higher miles. The one in PA is the wrong climate and wrong color. Nashville had good miles and not too far south for a black car. Yours is grety with in between miles, so I'd guesstimate it would do 45-46k at the block. BUT, dealer probably wouldn't want to take that chance, so if taking it on trade to send to auction, they might not be too comfortable at over $43k, I think. This is all largely speculation, of course.

I just crossed 100k miles and have had less problems than any of my last Toyotas. I offroad often for business purposes as well and can't complain a bit. If I was going to buy a new vehicle today I'd pickup a low mileage Silver or LE. In fact I looked at a 2012 with only 15k miles and couldn't pull the trigger because mine still drives as good as that "new" one.

Engine: 2.5 Turbo
Transmission: Automatic
Driveline: AWD
Mileage: 62,500
Color: Black ext/Black Interior
Major Options: Panoramic Moonroof
Condition: Minor wear, excellent mechanical condition. All services done for all the intervals. Tires have 65% or more tread left. Brake pads replaced at 42k miles.
Other: No prior damage or insurance claims. I am the original and only owner.
I dread having to deal with Craiglist tire kickers and flakes, so if I can get a decent price for a trade-in, I would probably go that route vs. private sale. Thanks.
I am not sure whether the 4runner is the best choice. I am looking to buy/finance a SUV for long term use. I would prefer it to be low on the mileage side, 4WD, under $30K and w/ leather heated seats.
I was reading about "body on frame" SUVs and most were touting that these types of vehicles last longer. So, I started digging around and that is how I arrived at a 4runner...The other body on frame vehicles were either too small or too expensive.
Is this faulty thinking? What other vehicles should I consider?

Its not much to go on, but if you base it just on that, you could figure maybe $13k at the block and $12k trade-in.
BUT, there was one in May with 95k that only got $7k. Go figure.

I'm of the same camp that a full frame SUV is a better vehicle for long-term use, particularly if you're going to off-road or tow which I do. I would probably prefer to drive a bigger vehicle (had Tahoes/Suburbans in the past) but the handling, passing power, and fuel economy of this size vehicle is ideal for me.
You can certainly get into a low mileage Pathfinder for well within your budget. I worked a deal on a 2012 Silver Edition 4x4 Pathfinder with 15k miles from a private party for $26k. It had heated leather and most every option I need. It was a very good deal but I just decided to keep mine because mine is in terrific shape and I just can't justify spending the money. I had gbrozen get me a trade for the '12 (see a few posts above) I was looking to buy and it came back around $24-$25k so even a dealer should be selling the same model for $27k-$28k.
2001 Prelude Type SH, 2022 Highlander XLE AWD, 2022 Wrangler Sahara 4Xe, 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR 4WD
I think you should be able to get between $3,000 and $3,500 trade in.
I have a C230 Sport 2007 Mercedes with the AMG style pkg (wheels, rear spoiler, amg muffler, etc).
Miles 76,000 apprx.
Just had a bunch of work done under extended warranty, Air Mass Sensor, Transmission bell housing replaced (slight leak), new Fuel pump. Front brakes 7mm, rear 3mm.
Tires, about 10K on them, lots of tread.
Outside, very good shape, no damage or rust. Interior detailed with steam cleaning of carpets and engine. Fresh oil change, new air filters, cabin filter. Had a small accident once, $1K bumper damage but its been repaired under insurance claim.
MB dealer offered me $8K! Carmax had same one for sale @ $17,999, but I just did a KBB.com estimate, and it said $12,200? So I'm confused what i can get in a private sale?
Thank you for your help

I found a CPO 2011 Nissan Pathfinder 4WD 4dr V6 LE with 16K miles at a NYC dealership for $27950. If I was to go the Pathfinder route for LE from the years 2009 to 2012, what should I expect in terms of pricing for miles less than 20K?
What other trucks should I be considering besides these two?
Other vehicles...I guess it depends on what you want. You were looking at real 4x4 trucks that are designed for off-roading and towing. Is that what you need in NYC? I would think a CRV would be more reliable than either and get far better mpg driving around town. But if you want/need a real truck there's nothing else out there that's not a full-size.
I'd say you're in the ballpark on price. I prefer the Silver model over the LE because it doesn't have the wood-trim, 18" wheels, or the more complicated 4x4 system. I like to keep it simple and save a few bucks. But if you want NAV you pretty much have to go with an LE. Good luck...I would hate to car-shop in NYC.

Private? Well, given the spread I stated above, folks could probably buy them retail for $12k-$14k. I guess you could ask $13k and see what happens.

Edmunds pegs the trade in value with the miles at $37K and change. I feel like their TMV is always on the low side.
Hope all is well & you are enjoying the Mustang!

If I'm a dealer and sell high-mileage 10-yr-old minivans, and one comes to me off the street that glows in the dark, sure, I might pay $3k for it to avoid the costs, fees, and uncertainty of the auction. But that's alot of ifs.
I like to prepare folks for the worst so they aren't offended when reality strikes.

And, hell, I'm not the least bit afraid to tell them I know the recent Manheim numbers. I kind of become a salesman myself at that point. "You can buy my car for $xxx and turn around and make $1k by taking it right to auction."

But the big sticking point is the fact that it isn't a "low mileage cream puff."

I forgot to mention that this vehicle is for my father, and, unfortunately, when I proposed the idea of a Pathfinder, he wasn't too excited. He stated that the new PF's shape has been completely revamped and the older shaped, truck based models now look outdated. I can see where he is coming from as the new PF looks like it is from a different planet. Furthermore, he stated that he would much rather get an older MDX (2010-2012), than a PF as the newer shaped MDX models are not too different from the older ones.
Sebring, for around 30K or lower, what are his other reasonable options? We also had a discussion about leasing and then buying afterwards. I am not too sure, but I would think this comes out to a bit more spread over years than just purchasing outright...
$25k is a pretty good starting point. If you can get him down another $1k, its a good deal. Even just $500 would still be fair, though.

2012 Chevy Malibu 1LT, 20,000 mi, 2.4 engine. Car is clean, tires, brakes show the20k miles.
2012 Chevy Impala LS, 15,000 mi 3.6 engine. Also a clean car.
Dealer is asking 14500 for either. I was wondering what they go for at auction.
Located in New England. Im thinking former "fleet" cars.
thanks
I don't show any such animal as a V6 LS. Any V6 with those miles is about $17k at the block, so I'm doubting that's what it is.
I'm guessing it is also a 4-cyl car, in which case it is also right there in that $12,500 zip code.

No Impalas from that generation had a four cylinder... I think you may have looked up a Malibu instead.
