BTW, my last two cars had 35s on the rear (the Porsche might even have been lower profile) and I have pretty much had my fill of sports mode in 4-wheeled vehicles used for every day travel in NYC.

Now I have to give up my car for another day or two again so that they can try to maybe fix it. At least the service guys at the dealership have been nice and apologetic about it.
Tonylups What year your car? I read in previous other post that you need not to spill any liquid (other than Vodka) in the mmi, so there is no drinking i my hopefully new car...I also found the dealership in Charleston S.C. to be friendly..
Man oh Man what a shame the storm did so much damage , and bring such pain to the Gulf Coast.....We went through Hugo and I surely can feel for them...Tony

The big black oversized-grille Audi, with the best paint job I have ever seen, is put through a grueling choreography of disbelieving stunts all without a scratch. Four-wheel drive, bullet-proof glass, blue-tooth technology, and other electronic gizmos are stretched to the limit.
Wow! What a car. Unfortunately, the target market for the A8L W-12 Quattro probably will never see this movie in a theatre where they can gasp, hear the melodic exhaust notes and appreciate the car’s potential. I suspect Audi might put a short clip of it on their website though, a la BMW.

Eric
... Does this mean you are not going to ge3t an A8???
Eric
Placed an order yesterday for A8L - Northern blue with Platinum, Premium Pkg, 19" wheels, wood/leather steering @ 2000 below MSRP. No other dealer in Chicagoland area offered a better discount. Do you think I could have got a better deal on the price ?
Thx

I will be placing an order in about 3 weeks when I return from a trip and have not "beaten them up" yet for the best bottom line price, but I have gotten verbals of "1-2K..depending on your ability to negotiate". (interesting quote from a salesperson..Kinda lets you know that 2K can be expected).

However, I think the A8 in the movie had the 4.2 L V8 (instead of the W12 engine), even though the car in the movie had the "W12" badge on the front grille. If you look closely, you'll see that the rear exhaust tips are round, which is what they use with the V8 engine. I believe the A8's with the W12 engine use rectangular shaped exhaust tips.
Could it be that the movie studio didn't want to pay the extra $30K - $40K for a "real" A8 W12?

When I had a Porsche many year ago, I really enjoyed it...Everyone at one point in their live should have one.....They use to be very simple --no nothing-- not even a/c as they were for purists....Living in S.C it was very hot, but who cared...It was a Targa...
Tony
ps be careful on the bargaining front as it is not too hard to get in a corner and then have the un-enviable decision made based on pride....Two thousand was preety quickly established but from there on it may have gotten personal..
As I stated before, price is a very important component of the bottom line, but really only one component.
Well, I'll be leaving shortly for 3 weeks in China. Good luck to you and I'll type at ya when I get back (unless the hotels have high speed access...I will have my laptop with me...)

I really want the wood and leather steering wheel (1XL) and sports suspension is not available with that option. Didnot opt for the wooden steering wheel (2005) initially but got a chance to see the new wood/leather 4 spoke steering wheel(2006 and std on W12). I had to compromise on the sports suspension.
I think I could have pushed to $ 2500 but would have wasted another week or so in doing that.

Tony
locate and fix the problem;
replace the car; or
give me a refund
Eric from Beijing
Hope you are enjoying Beijing. It is great at this time of the year.
I have no clue what you are referring to. 'garnet'.

1st time in China and loving it so far!

The temp is a little high in Beijing....mid 80s during the day. But to get a little back on topic, I am amazed at the number of Audis here. I have seen more A6s in a few days then I have seen in NY in months! They are the older nose style, and almost all of f them are black. There appears to be a long wheel base version, but I might be wrong.
Good luck with your car. Hope you get it soon
Eric
Are there any other thoughts you may have that could better help me on my purchase?? Thanks again Tony PS emauss I hope you are enjoying yourself
Would like to hear from others with MMI problems .This defect sounds like a CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT TO GET THEM TO STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT
