My 09 Es 350 engine started to clap (when around 58-66 deg ambient temp at start) last fall (2013). Reported to my Lexus dealership, and my service adviser said he never heard of the problem. My engine clappng reappeard since the garage ambient temp at work is at 58-66 deg f again. I called the dealership got the same guy and reported the noise. He again said he has never heard of the problem (this is the same guy I talked to last fall). I wonder how many times a day he has to say this to the ES 350 owners.
I am thinking LEXUS is forcing their service advisers to deny acknowledging this problem out of a fear the VVTI actuator gear recall on GS 350 and IS 350 to might expand to ES 350s. Any one here ended up in the shop after the warranty period ended to fix this problem?
