Not sure what year your Escape is, but prior to 2013, I'm pretty sure it was FWD until the front wheels detected slip, then power to the rear wheels would be added.
Prior to 2005, they also have a 'locked' 4WD mode.
2013 and up the AWD versions start with out power all 4 wheels and switch to FWD at some point.5 · · Share on Facebook
Ford has a $10 rebate on 'The Works'.
Last week I brought my Mom's 2011 Fiesta in to get an oil change and have the rear hatch latch replaced.
I brought the car over to my house the night before my appointment was scheduled.
Unfortunately it was -10 overnight and the car wouldn't start so I cancelled the appointment.
When I got home from work I jumped it and drove it about 30 miles.
Low tire pressure light was on after the jump, although tire pressures were all good.
Left it out overnight and it started the next day was able to get an appointment the same day.
Got 'The Works' done, rear latch replaced, tire pressure light reset, and a ride to work and back.
Bill came to $48, but due to the rewards program the oil change was free, so no charge for anything.
Now the coupon part, she's getting $10 back!5 · · Share on Facebook
