"The new X3 xDrive28d will offer BMW's 2.0-liter TwinPower turbodiesel four-cylinder engine rated at 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW says the X3 clean diesel will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just under 8 seconds"1 ·
Looking at True Cost to Own for the 2011s (nothing newer, at least for a diesel 3 Series), the maintenance and repair look pretty even. Depreciation is similar too.
Didn't see an automatic option so it's a bit of an apples to agates comparison.
The other wrinkle is the "free" maintenance you get now with BMWs for four years.1 ·
Regarding using the Save button, is this a way that I could save someone else's post
Hm, this might work for you. When you like a post you can hover down to the right of the Flag/Quote and then click on Insightful or Awesome. Then you can go to your Profile and click the Insightful or Awesome or LOL link and all those marked posts will show up.
To kill one you didn't mean to mark Insightful, you can hover over the post in your Profile and click Insightful again and that'll remove it from your list.1 ·
Have to disagree that hybrid comments are more appropriate in the hybrid threads. This discussion is about what it would take to convince you to buy a diesel. So comparisons with gassers and hybrids don't seem inappropriate - talking about price of the car, price of fuel, MPG, manufacturer - that's really the guts of the topic. Surely you don't want to simply compare one diesel sedan to another diesel sedan?1 ·
