The Tundra is the best 1/2 ton pickup currently in production. There is no need to place any further postings on the subject since we all know this a fact!!!

This is the Christmas season and not April Fool's Day. Good luck on this one now!!

Been there haven't done that. Took one look after the hike up there and said forget it. I figured if we were meant to fly, we would have wings.....
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
So if we were meant to drive trucks we'd be born with....?
  • dch0300dch0300 Member Posts: 472
    rwellbaum2,
You claim that "the Tundra is the best 1/2 ton pickup".
I need a 1/2 ton "full size" truck that can seat 6 adults comfortably.
    Can the Tundra do that?

  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
If your looking for a people mover....try a minivan. The Tundra will hold 6 adults with the front bench seat....as for comfort. I've sat in the back seat of all the 1/2 ton pickups...none were very comfortable. I haven't tried the new ford Supercab. Ford chopped out some of the bed to accomadate more cab room. To me it's an SUV with the back roof missing. But if it's the pickup "image" your after, it will fit the bill perfectly.

"So if we were meant to drive trucks we'd be born with....?"

duh! silverados. and if we were meant to play in sandboxes all our lives, we'd be born with tundras. LOL!

ok, this is why i was wondering where tundra vs...V was. i need to answer some things:

    bama: #579 on tundra vs...V
"It says something to me that you have to upgrade the suspension to put a tow-hitch on a Chevy. Can you say WIMPY?"

talk about someone having a reading problem. alright, it is quite obvious that if you want to change after purchase (or when buying used - but who would by a used truck not capable of towing if they know they need to tow???) that you have to "upgrade the suspension", etc. but, let me ask you this: what if, after buying a tundra, you realize you have to tow more than 7200 pounds? do you go out and buy 5.3L vortec that has the power to tow more (and give you better gas mileage) and have your dealer put it in your truck, or do you buy a new truck? if you buy a stick and decide it would be easier to manage your kids with an automatic, are you going to pay the dealer to install a automatic transmission? if you buy a 2wd and decide later you want 4wd...etc. at least all of these options are available from gm from the get go. unlike an extended cab long bed set up on a tundra. or, how about a regular cab shortbed? hmmm...silence. haven't heard a response to that one yet...wonder why?

"The fact that the Silverado doesn't have a standard heavy duty suspension says something about their targeted buyers."

it's called options - something that apparently, toyota doesn't understand. it also says something when a manufacturer only offers two configurations on their truck...it tells us that the consumer is only worth a half-a** effort.

and the ultimate of folks who can't read...

    rwell: #583 on tundra vs...V
"So you voted for Al Gore!! Geez Kyle, first you buy a chevy. then vote for Gore."

    me: #578 on tundra vs...V
    "bama -
good to see that some things never change. that's a wonderful citation of one instance you have there. i'd hate to see you on a vote counting board...

'ok folks, my first ballot was for gore...so, gore it is. congratulations mr. vice president!'"

hmmm...don't really see where it says i voted for gore in there. but ok rob, must that "overly-imaginative" side of you coming out again. well, at least you got the chevy part right anyways.

    bama: #584 on tundra vs...V
"And when you get right down to it - the whole question of keeping the money in the States - well, there's no way of knowing the nationality of the stockowners. And ultimately, THAT is where the profits go.

The point is that it's myoptic - and unfair - to bash someone as "anti-American" for buying a Toyota truck."

for the record, i don't disagree with that in the least.

Wow take a few deep breaths and relax.I dont think this board is worth blowing a blood vessel over. But I do agree with you Toyota definetely did not put much of an effort into making a competitive truck, all they did is look at what some people wanted and then piced together a truck made of few new parts and lots of parts fromexisting vehicles.
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
Kyle, you were born with a silverado? Was it small at birth and grew up with you? Please watch that blood pressure, sneak out of the office and get some fresh air away from that nitpicky Major.

Obyone, I'm sure there are some amputees who drive trucks. ;)
  • justtheonejusttheone Member Posts: 403
Look too them ownin manuals for how "HD" them forien ones be. Them tundras with that tacoma pumpkin aint got know haul. The yuppie, chasin after the shine of em, keeps blowin smoke. But that fact is that fact: tundra=less truck, more buck. Use your eyes if ya still be confused on these facts. Good luck on this one now!
  • bcobco Member Posts: 756
    rob,
actually, no, i was not born with a silverado. but i do appreciate your inquiry. i believe you missed the "if" and the "meant" in your own post. as in: "If we were meant to drive trucks..." ;)
fear not, young warrior, my blood pressure is fine, sometimes i feel the need to write things more than once, as it usually takes two or three posts before you all identify and comprehend it.
oddly enough, through all this invaluable dialogue, no one has taken the time to justify why toyota chose not to offer an extended cab long bed or a regular cab shortbed set up on a tundra. hmmm... i mean, i thought one of the big perks with the tundra was better maneuverability in "tight city" (grocery hauling) situations. you know, easy to do the spiral ramps in parking garages. and, for that matter, easy to park in my garage at home. what if i have my washer and dryer in the garage and could only fit a reg cab short bed tundra? do i have to move the washer and dryer outside? LOL!

and just think...if they offered the reg cab short bed, bama wouldn't have to lug those big, heavy bicycles off their rack to put his truck in the garage. he could have gotten a reg cab instead and pulled the whole contraption right on in.

Here is the approved method to climb into a Tundra without running boards (We don't need no steenkin running boards). You will note that the person pictured is actually 6 ft tall.

i get the gnomes from the tundra commercials now. it all hit me when i was looking at bama's pic. the gnomes represent two things. one...the ground clearance of the tundra. two...the max height of tundra's rear-seat passengers who desire even the tiniest level of comfort. LOL!

If they aint for haulin (see them ownin manuals for this one), and ya cant get no factory hitch, and them beds aint deep enough too be holdin nothin, and there aint no room in them cramped cabs, then why is some folks chasin them ones so hard? Is it cuz they be forien, and yuppies just love them things forien. Is it cuz them yuppie magazines gave them tells on how they be fashionable now? Is it cuz them other yuppies had em, and so the rest got the needs for em? Whay say, why is it ya got that tundra now? Good luck on this one now!

  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
    Yep,
This topic has really slowed down since most people have come to accept the Tundra as the Lord and Master of the 1/2 truck segment!! even justletone now worships the Tundra in all it's glory.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
I think it's more like people have stopped posting. whether they will return or not, time will tell. If it stays like this....who knows?

SHITSU against a BIT BULL, ROT WEILLER & DOBERMAN dog....
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
    tell me it ain't so.....

Tundra is ok in my books. Gave the Tacoma owners a mid size truck. A lot of them needed that rather than suffer with the size of the Taco...
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
The big three: Shitsu(obviously chevy silverado), Doberman(German dog...daimler chrysler), Rot weiler (most popular dog...ford f150)

    Wolf(Toyota Tundra)
  • amoraamora Member Posts: 204
what??? ahhhhhh!! perhaps the Toyota Tundra is a WOLF TICKET...not
wolf...no way wolfy EITHER....PIT BULL is surely Chebbie.....
Shitsu is Japanese dog right?? hence the small mini Toyota and its
bigger intermediate brother the Tondrah....Japanese cars do have
rather silly names...CAMRY, ALTIMA, MAXIMA, SUPRA, TUNDRA...hmmmm
don't forget CAROLLA, sounds neat in spanish too....TACOMA from
city in Washington state known for its fog and rain.....DREARY TOO
  • lariat1lariat1 Member Posts: 461
Isnt a shitzu a little dog that barks and acts tough when no one is around and then when the real dogs show up they run, hide, shake and pee all over themselves?......Well then I guess that the tundra is the shitzu of pickup trucks.
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
Too late, can't change the namesakes...the Tundra is the Wolf !!!!! Have fun driving your shitzurado!! ;)
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
Since most fords are made in Mexico. Perhaps, the mighty Chihuahua should be the official namesake of the f-150 ;)
  • tundradudetundradude Member Posts: 588
I have an 11 year old Shitzu. She has a loud bark for her size and she will defend against all attackers, even the neighborhood's german shepards. They act tough when whoevers around but also will be sweet and gentle at most times. Yes, this does describe the Tundra. Just make sure that you know what a shitzu truly is and how she truly behaves.

    Quotes from: http://www.fordtruckenthusiasts.com/specs/index.html

F-150 is manufactured in Kansas City, Mo.; Norfolk, Va.; Oakville, Ontario, Canada; and Cuautitlan, Mexico, near Mexico City.

The Super Duty F-250 and F-350 pickups are manufactured at Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Ky.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

How do you figure that "most" Fords are made in Mexico?......More Toyota-esque exaggeration?
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
So 2 out of the 5 plants producing the F-150 are actually in the U.S..........not bad for a so-called "domestic"

Tundra....made only in Princeton, Indiana USA
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
have subsided. In fact I hope bama didn't get lost without placemarks and such....Other than that ...let the banter begin....!!!
  • amoraamora Member Posts: 204
Please change or modify topic to "TUNDRA vs DAKOTA RT 5.9, T100 (TUNDRA WANNA BE) this would be a more even match, these contenders
(middle weights) in no way can compete with the HEAVIES (TRUE trucks),
ah shucks throw in the FORD LIGHTNING for fun....ha ha ha
  • bamatundrabamatundra Member Posts: 1,583
This is a surprise - another "My truck is biggern yourn" post from a Big 2 truck owner (Remember Dodge is a German company). You guys (and Libby) are getting boring. I can understand you not wanting to compare your Big 2 truck to the Tundra though - The Tundra really is a much better truck. The person in this picture is actually 6 ft. tall!

    image

This Spring, TRD is coming out with a supercharger for the 4.7L V8. The Tundra has almost the same horsepower, but more torque than the Ford Lightning with just 5 lbs of boost. Those 32 valves and 4 cams the Tundra has are making a larger engine in the Lightning look wimpy. And this with a full factory warranty - I want one!
  • modvptnlmodvptnl Member Posts: 1,352
God help us!!! Or is it lack of reading comprehension?
Where do you get your numbers???? I've got 3 out of the FOUR factories AREN'T in Mexico. The Oakville, Ontario plant borders Michigan, doesn't it? I won't state this for fact but it probably employs some U.S. citizens????

My older brother has always driven TOYotas and I have always driven one of the Big 3. My brother and I was out in Iowa pheasant hunting
a few weeks ago and he said that even though his TUndra was a nice truck "ITs still not really a full size truck". He is getting a
F150 SCREW. Just goes to show that even a Die Hard Toyota man knows when to admit that Toyota still hasn't achieved a real full size TRUCK!
  • amoraamora Member Posts: 204
my compliments on whoever posted this awesome image......
where can I send diecast model of a full size Chevy pick-up to the
person who is struggling to climb aboard the Orient Express....(thundrah)...

    LMFAO!!!

ps...anyone care to comment yet about reg cab short bed or ext cab long bed for the "big, bad (read: halfa** effort by toyota) tundra"?
  • ratboy3ratboy3 Member Posts: 324
reg cab short bed / extra cab long bed config doesnt exist.. add no limited slip diff.. what else? narrower and shorter than the big boys.. oh yeah.. no hitch for the limited line..
  • amoraamora Member Posts: 204
I desire to know the scale model of this TUNDRA type vehicle...is it 1:25 ?, 1:10? and the molded figure
shown climbing aboard is out of scale......
  • gotribe1gotribe1 Member Posts: 81
I've tried posting a few things in the last week and and it must be stealth posting just like the tundra paint. I don't see it. I don't think I wrote anything offensive that it would have been deleted. Is any kind of wishing a merry---- a religious commentary? Rwell, I saw in post #23 that you finally got it right when you said the tundra was the master of the 1/2 trucks. That would leave the Big 3 to compete in the full size class, correct?
  • amoraamora Member Posts: 204
Have read enlightening articles and editorials on new products....I am impressed, will review previous
issues....a review of all the problems posted in Town Hall re Big Three trucks is cause for concern.

I passed 10,000 mi in my truck without incident....however mine is last of the C/K series and they may have gotten it right finally...gosh I miss my '77 Landcruiser.......enough sniveling.....returning to topic
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
So if a foreign factory is close to our border, that makes it American?!?!
    ROTFLMAO!!!!!
  • webbdwebbd Member Posts: 176
It makes it easier for all the Americans employed by those foreign plants to commute. I mean, none of you thought that Mexicans or Canadians were building those trucks and cars. Come on!
  • modvptnlmodvptnl Member Posts: 1,352
Dude, one too many hang gliding accidents? You said, "MOST" Fords were built in Mexico. All I pointed out was that 1 out of 4 plants were in Mexico. Actually I never said Canada was an American plant but if you want to get technical it really is. You came up with other goofy numbers. Fuzzy math? Closet Gore man? Wear a helmet next time!!!ROTFLM"F"AO!!!!
  • rwellbaum2rwellbaum2 Member Posts: 1,006
Thank God your not a pilot....who knows where you'd try to land.

"You mean I'm arrested for violation of Canadian airspace, but I thought Canada was technically The U.S."

    ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
  • modvptnlmodvptnl Member Posts: 1,352
.....and it's not from flying. Canada is in NORTH AMERICA. Never said U.S. Now back to the ORIGINAL IGNORANT Rwell post. How are MOST Fords made in Mexico? I know you're trying to ignore this SIMPLE question by changing the subject but if you could at least back up your dumb comments, maybe we could put this to rest.
