You claim that "the Tundra is the best 1/2 ton pickup".
I need a 1/2 ton "full size" truck that can seat 6 adults comfortably.
Can the Tundra do that?

duh! silverados. and if we were meant to play in sandboxes all our lives, we'd be born with tundras. LOL!

"It says something to me that you have to upgrade the suspension to put a tow-hitch on a Chevy. Can you say WIMPY?"
talk about someone having a reading problem. alright, it is quite obvious that if you want to change after purchase (or when buying used - but who would by a used truck not capable of towing if they know they need to tow???) that you have to "upgrade the suspension", etc. but, let me ask you this: what if, after buying a tundra, you realize you have to tow more than 7200 pounds? do you go out and buy 5.3L vortec that has the power to tow more (and give you better gas mileage) and have your dealer put it in your truck, or do you buy a new truck? if you buy a stick and decide it would be easier to manage your kids with an automatic, are you going to pay the dealer to install a automatic transmission? if you buy a 2wd and decide later you want 4wd...etc. at least all of these options are available from gm from the get go. unlike an extended cab long bed set up on a tundra. or, how about a regular cab shortbed? hmmm...silence. haven't heard a response to that one yet...wonder why?
"The fact that the Silverado doesn't have a standard heavy duty suspension says something about their targeted buyers."
it's called options - something that apparently, toyota doesn't understand. it also says something when a manufacturer only offers two configurations on their truck...it tells us that the consumer is only worth a half-a** effort.
and the ultimate of folks who can't read...

"So you voted for Al Gore!! Geez Kyle, first you buy a chevy. then vote for Gore."

"bama -
good to see that some things never change. that's a wonderful citation of one instance you have there. i'd hate to see you on a vote counting board...
'ok folks, my first ballot was for gore...so, gore it is. congratulations mr. vice president!'"
hmmm...don't really see where it says i voted for gore in there. but ok rob, must that "overly-imaginative" side of you coming out again. well, at least you got the chevy part right anyways.

"And when you get right down to it - the whole question of keeping the money in the States - well, there's no way of knowing the nationality of the stockowners. And ultimately, THAT is where the profits go.
The point is that it's myoptic - and unfair - to bash someone as "anti-American" for buying a Toyota truck."
for the record, i don't disagree with that in the least.

Obyone, I'm sure there are some amputees who drive trucks.
actually, no, i was not born with a silverado. but i do appreciate your inquiry. i believe you missed the "if" and the "meant" in your own post. as in: "If we were meant to drive trucks..."
fear not, young warrior, my blood pressure is fine, sometimes i feel the need to write things more than once, as it usually takes two or three posts before you all identify and comprehend it.
oddly enough, through all this invaluable dialogue, no one has taken the time to justify why toyota chose not to offer an extended cab long bed or a regular cab shortbed set up on a tundra. hmmm... i mean, i thought one of the big perks with the tundra was better maneuverability in "tight city" (grocery hauling) situations. you know, easy to do the spiral ramps in parking garages. and, for that matter, easy to park in my garage at home. what if i have my washer and dryer in the garage and could only fit a reg cab short bed tundra? do i have to move the washer and dryer outside? LOL!
and just think...if they offered the reg cab short bed, bama wouldn't have to lug those big, heavy bicycles off their rack to put his truck in the garage. he could have gotten a reg cab instead and pulled the whole contraption right on in.

This topic has really slowed down since most people have come to accept the Tundra as the Lord and Master of the 1/2 truck segment!! even justletone now worships the Tundra in all it's glory.
Tundra is ok in my books. Gave the Tacoma owners a mid size truck. A lot of them needed that rather than suffer with the size of the Taco...
Wolf(Toyota Tundra)
wolf...no way wolfy EITHER....PIT BULL is surely Chebbie.....
Shitsu is Japanese dog right?? hence the small mini Toyota and its
bigger intermediate brother the Tondrah....Japanese cars do have
rather silly names...CAMRY, ALTIMA, MAXIMA, SUPRA, TUNDRA...hmmmm
don't forget CAROLLA, sounds neat in spanish too....TACOMA from
city in Washington state known for its fog and rain.....DREARY TOO
F-150 is manufactured in Kansas City, Mo.; Norfolk, Va.; Oakville, Ontario, Canada; and Cuautitlan, Mexico, near Mexico City.
The Super Duty F-250 and F-350 pickups are manufactured at Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Ky.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you figure that "most" Fords are made in Mexico?......More Toyota-esque exaggeration?
Tundra....made only in Princeton, Indiana USA
(middle weights) in no way can compete with the HEAVIES (TRUE trucks),
ah shucks throw in the FORD LIGHTNING for fun....ha ha ha
This Spring, TRD is coming out with a supercharger for the 4.7L V8. The Tundra has almost the same horsepower, but more torque than the Ford Lightning with just 5 lbs of boost. Those 32 valves and 4 cams the Tundra has are making a larger engine in the Lightning look wimpy. And this with a full factory warranty - I want one!
Where do you get your numbers???? I've got 3 out of the FOUR factories AREN'T in Mexico. The Oakville, Ontario plant borders Michigan, doesn't it? I won't state this for fact but it probably employs some U.S. citizens????
a few weeks ago and he said that even though his TUndra was a nice truck "ITs still not really a full size truck". He is getting a
F150 SCREW. Just goes to show that even a Die Hard Toyota man knows when to admit that Toyota still hasn't achieved a real full size TRUCK!
where can I send diecast model of a full size Chevy pick-up to the
person who is struggling to climb aboard the Orient Express....(thundrah)...
LMFAO!!!
bco
ps...anyone care to comment yet about reg cab short bed or ext cab long bed for the "big, bad (read: halfa** effort by toyota) tundra"?
shown climbing aboard is out of scale......
issues....a review of all the problems posted in Town Hall re Big Three trucks is cause for concern.
I passed 10,000 mi in my truck without incident....however mine is last of the C/K series and they may have gotten it right finally...gosh I miss my '77 Landcruiser.......enough sniveling.....returning to topic
ROTFLMAO!!!!!
"You mean I'm arrested for violation of Canadian airspace, but I thought Canada was technically The U.S."
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
