Seat belt Repair 2002 Forester
My dog ate through the driver's seat belt on my 2002 Forester. The dealer quoted me $450 and said only a dealership had the training to repair the seat belt. He said the seat belt is connected to the airbag computer, so that the driver is held in place if the airbag goes off. I would like to go somewhere else to get a cheaper price, but am concerned about safety. Anyone know if it's true that only dealerships have the ability to make this repair?

A simple equation. Go with the dealership to replace safety critical items. They don't come much more critical than seat belts.
Put the dog on a diet to pay for it!

By law, according to the Magnussen-Moss Warranty Act, if the dealer is truly the only one that can make the fix, then they have to fix it for FREE.
Total baloney.
