Sub-freezing fuse blowing in 2005 Malibu Classic
Hello,
I have a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Classic I purchased used. It currently has about 33,000 miles on it.
From the beginning, I've had issues with the brake fuse that only occurs when the weather is below freezing. The brake fuse blows sometimes on the 1st application of the brakes. I can drive all through the warm months without issue. The turn signal and hazard lights seem fine until sub-zero weather, when they too blow if used.
I ran out of fuses so put a 20A in the brakes' socket for the trip to the parts store; it also blew by the time I got there.
I'm kind of at a loss to discover the cause. I don't see any damage to the wiring that's visible, and the temperature factor really has me stumped. I'm in an area where we can use snow tires from October through May so this is something I'd really like to resolve; it's a big safety issue.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. I have no other issues with the vehicle.
Thanks in advance,
Joel
