Forester PZEV - required for California???

I've been trying to get the answer to this question... if I buy a 2009 Forester for registration in California does it have to be a PZEV?

    Yes. From Drive Magazine:

    PZEV vehicles are required to be sold in the following states that have adopted the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Low Emission Vehicle (LEV2) standards:

    * California
    * Connecticut
    * Maine
    * Massachusetts
    * New Jersey
    * New York
    * Oregon
    * Pennsylvania
    * Rhode Island
    * Vermont
    * Washington

    Yep, and the best part is you get an extra 5hp.

    I got one and I'm not even in a PZEV state!

    You benefit even more - the emissions warranty is longer for you.
