Kia Sportage Audio System

I would like to improve the sound of the stock cd/Sirius radio in my 2009 Sportage. I don't want to replace the in-dash unit with a smaller, din-sized after-market deck, so does anyone know/have experience if adding a decent amp is a worthwhile upgrade? Or will it just amplify the bad sound?
With the rear speakers in the door, they are almost completely lost even with the fader turned toward the back - maybe adding an amp would help that as well?
Thanks for any advice.

I have a signal which is coming over speakers when engine is on. It becomes more prononce if I'am in carport or under brigde, but if I turn off engine the signal comes through just fine. The dealer replaced the roof antenna and base, but this did not correct problem. My other vehicles radios work with out any problems in same conditions. ??

My 2009 Kia Sportage was not driven for about 3 months while I was on deployment. So the bettery died and I had to recharge it yesterday to drive it. Everything seems okay except that the audio system has no power (does not light up at all). I called the dealer this morning and they said a fuse for the audio system is probably blown up. I know the fuse box is generally in the lwer part of the driver's side. Do you know where it exactly is and when I find it which fuse is for the audio system? Thanks.
