Living here in the 'hood, I get to hear a lot of "stories". This one guy came knocking on my door looking for a handout, did I have any work he could do to get money to feed his kids. I told him he could paint my storage building and I would pay him a fair price. He declined, stating that he was afraid of getting paint on his "new $150 sneakers".

But, to be fair, there are a lot of honest hard working people around here, who work their b_____ off trying to make ends meet. After a while, you learn which is which, who is who. I'm always good for $3 for bus fare to those whom I know will spend it on bus fare and not a quart of malt liquor.

I think dealer service records can be good if you buy/trade in at same dealer.
Fuel mileage records probably don't matter to them.

dealer doesn't need them. they have them in the system. And always seem real reluctant to share.

When I've traded in some of my previous rides, they are listed as 'Sold new and serviced here'.

I don't know that I have ever seen that listed on an ad, but I have encountered it.

When I purchased the 2006 Sedan DeVille, the salesman told me it was a one owner, bought new at that dealership and serviced there. When I was doing the paperwork for the purchase, the finance guy made a point of showing me the title, which was original and showed clearly that it was sold by that dealership in 2006 brand new with something like 2 miles on the odometer.

I used to work in family court and my god...I stopped counting the number of folks who claimed they could not afford court filing fees and then walked up with the latest iPhone.

One of the many things that ground my gears when practicing in a rural area: if you're accused of neglecting your children, you're entitled to a free court-appointed attorney, who is generally an attorney in private practice who is paid a pittance of a flat-fee to be there for numerous court dates. Technically, you're supposed to be indigent to qualify, but there appeared to be no official test.

Parents who were accused of criminal activity and hired private attorneys still got free court appointed lawyers in the child neglect cases! I would have put an end to that real quick by "appointing" their privately paid criminal defense counsel as their court-appointed attorney in the child neglect cases.

    Ain't that the truth.

It's and old story, people have money for what they WANT; houses, cars, clothes, jewelry. You name it, even top of the line phones as you've mentioned but never enough for the important things in life.

I work in a bad neighborhood and I see a lot of people who "work the system." Women walking $1,500 BUGABOO Strollers up the street while smoking and yelling on an iPhone (Whatever the newest, biggest, most expensive one is) to one of their "baby daddies" while their other children are 1/2 a block behind them. Older guys who know what to say to their MD to get Viagra prescriptions because the government will pay for it, then turn around and try to sell them on the street per pill. It is sad because there are A LOT of people out there who truly need help.

"As quick as EV technology (i.e. range) is improving, buying a used EV is like buying an iPad from 2014."

I think an iPad from 2014 has had less of a depreciation curve than some of the EV's today.

I currently have an iPhone SE and I just bought my wife a "new to her" Iphone 7 this week. I don't mind having slightly older tech as long as it does what I need it to do.
