Wow, out of curiosity I did the appraisal on Carvana, $10716. CarMax $8500.

Carvana is Carmax to the tenth power.

How does one invest in Carvana; they are going to be highly successful.

    I don't see it listed.

But 70k-80k mile units are $10k. Can't imagine they put more than $15k into it.

    $26500!! Holy crap.

I really don't want to pay $10K to save 50K miles..

Does the collision show up on Carfax, and what happened (e.g., how bad was it?)?

No on Autocheck and yes on Carfax I believe.

It was right fender dmg, somewhere around $3 - 5 k if I remember correctly

Tough to value without seeing it up close. If it isn't a crazy color combo, you may be down around $11k.

    It's blue.

CarMax came back at $11,500. They ran Autocheck and called it accident free but their inspection noted the repaint on the right fender and hood.

Carvana is $11,900 and Vroom is $11,750 both include the accident.

There are not very many used turbo Foresters available in my area (Oklahoma)

Seems like a turbo Forester would be an easy sale, private party.

The last gen Forester XT is pretty sought after because they stopped making the XT in the new body style.

I’d list it on some enthusiast forums and I bet you do way better than $12k.

Selling a $12K car private party would be a pain, I would think. Lots of looky-loos and people that want you to tote the note. I’ll take trade in every time and avoid that hassle.

My experience with trying to sell a car over 10K privately is that it takes way too long. With Carvana halving the margins between Private and Trade-In... it's a no-brainer.

If tires and brakes are good, shine it up real nice and list it for $7495. Probably see $6k on it easily.

Ok that is exactly what I was thinking. Thought trade in would be closer to $5k though.

[this new interface is truly awful and non-intuitive. once a quote is started, i can only end it by

doing something else weird. i'm sure there's a way but how would i know? i liked the old interface fine, or the one before that.]

I expect qb is spot on as usual, but I can't get my head around

    paying $6k for a 15-year-old car.

BUT, its a "honda" "suv" with "under 100k miles." Its a hattrick of craigslist stardom.
