2007 SantaFe. I have been told by the dealer that I must change the transmission fluid at 30000 miles !!! The manual references 105000 miles, NOT 30000 miles. BUT, if driven under adverse conditions, per the warrenty, then at 30000 miles. Dealer says the adverse conditions is NOT just how car is driven BUT also location. Rochester, NY qualifies for adverse conditions no matter how I personally drive the car. Is this true? Anyone else ever hear of this bull?

I believe the criteria for "severe service" is spelled out in your service record booklet. Stop and go driving, towing and driving in dusty areas are the ones I recall.

I sent a sample to a chem lab in the midwest on another car. They say ideally 15k miles for the trans and the rear dif, 30k for the transfer case and front dif

How much can it cost at a Jiffy Lube? Oil is cheaper than metal

Careful! Hyundai uses synthetic trans fluid (SPIII). It lasts longer than regular fluid.
