Shift problems

I have a 2003 Odyssey. Transmission was replaced at 60,000 miles on a recall. The van now has 171,000 miles so there is 111,000 miles on the second transmission. About 3 months ago I had a hard time shifting from park to either drive or reverse. I would have to step on the brake pedal numerous times to get it to shift. That problem actually went away on its own. I never needed too shift into drive 1, 2 or 3 and really never did until the recent snow storm. The problem is that it does not shift into those gears. It
only shifts from park to reverse, neutral and drive and the shift lever does not move down any further to the other gears. Any thoughts about why this is happening and what needs to be done to repair it. I am afraid it eventually will not shift at all at some future time. Thanks in advance, Kevin

Ok not insulting you or anything but are you pulling in on the shifter befoe going down into the lomer gears. It doesnt just shift straight down you need to pull it towards you if I remember correctly..

Are you also experiencing any new problems with the power doors (EX models) as well? We had intermittent problems getting out of park, and occasional door freeze-ups as well. Turns out the commonality was the Neutral Safety Switch which is mounted on the outside of the tranny.
