Buying Used Toyota RAV4 Advice

Hi,

My first post here, We are looking into buying our first SUV. Although, I would like to get the MDX because I really like it, but at this time we can't afford it. So we are thinking of the Rav4 used.

We are looking at 2006 or 2007 models and I have so far found a 2007 model with 38000 for $14000 in Maryland (thompson Kia - dealer). Any advise on the Rav4 2006 or 2007 models. Maintenance costs etc.

As I am very new to buying car from a dealer any help would be appreciated. We have a Hyundai elantra 2002 with 100300 miles and a 1999 toyota camry with 137000 miles.

I don't know if I should trade in the car or sell privately.

Found what looked like a decent 2009 Base 4x4 4cyl but it's out of state so I ordered an independant inspection. The report was overall ok, but there are about 10 notations of "minor dings, dents, scuffs" and paint chipping throughout the body. Front door has 1" dent with rust (noted it appeared to be a lost tussle with a grocery cart) the other front door has a foot long scuff.

The dealer lists it for under $19000 with 31000 miles, which seemed pretty high, and now seems very high. I'm wondering about all that "minor" damage, and how soon they will all begin to rust? Ditto on the paint chip areas. Should I make a very low offer knowing I will need to do body work? Or are these minor dings common and can be ignored? (the one is already rusting so I'm leary of this) thanks for any help...I REALLY hate vehicle shopping

Hi. I very unexpectedly need a new car. Found a 2008 Rav4 3.5 v-6, 4X4 with cloth seats, towing prep package, Compact Disc Player, Auxiliary Audio Input Jack, Cruise Control, Daytime Running Lights, Dual Front and Side Impact Air Bags, Fold Down Rear Seats, Four Wheel Drive Keyless Entry, Roof Rack, Rear Privacy Glass, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Traction Control with Stability Control

    21K miles
    19,795 dealer price

What's a good price for this car w/ these features?

Seems like a decent price - check www.kbb.com or www.nada.com for pricing guidelines. Not sure whether you found it at dealership and whether it's a certified pre-owned car. Prices for used Toyotas are high this Summer due to demand and limited stock

Those are asking prices. TMV reflects what people are actually paying in your area.

What is the "Kelley Blue Book" Price?
