Going the extra mile with Subaru and Kinney Motors Rutland VT

In August of 2009 I purchased a used 2005 Subaru Legacy from Kinney Motors in Rutland VT. The mileage was in in the low 80s and the car seemed great in every way. It came with a 3 month dealer warranty. Oil was changed and service procedures were followed. In January 2010, the engine started making a clicking noise. I brought the car in and they told me that in all probability the engine would need a new short block but to confirm that they would have to take it apart. After taking the engine apart, I was told it would in fact need a new short block and that the cost would be around $4500. I was not too pleased about this development but I asked Kinney what they could do. I'm happy to report that Kinney took the initative and spoke to Subaru and that Subaru and Kinney together picked up the bulk of the cost for the repair. Talk about going the extra mile for a customer! Talk about having a customer for life!
Thanks Kinney. Thanks Subaru.

    Thanks for sharing that.

An unhappy person will tell everyone. Most happy customers keep quite.

    Cool story.

I agree! Did they tell you the likely cause of failure?

Be sure to give them their props at our Dealer Ratings and Reviews page, too.

Not to belittle Kinney (my dad bought several Subarus there), but the powertrain on your car was covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. If you had less than 60k, your car was covered under the warranty anyway.

Not to belittle rs6er, but the original poster clearly wrote ...
