1999 v6 Accord engine/tran replaced with 2004 v6 Accord
I recently had a massive transmission failure (go figure) which showed no symptoms until catastrophic failure.
I have the opportunity to get an entire 2004 v6 engine and transmission for a good price. I was told that the mounts and connections are the same between these two model years and the only difference is the computer which they will swap as well.
Any warnings or helpful information about this?
the whole deal is costing me about $1200 vs $4000 for a rebuilt w/ install.

I never would have guessed you could put an 04 Accord V6 engine and transmission in a 99 Accord. I'm just thinking of the long list of things which need to fit, (transmission/engine mounts, exhaust, wiring harnesses, drive axles, radiator hose size and location, transmission cooler lines, air intake, etc. etc.) I can't say it's not possible, I'm just surprised.
I thought the 04 V6 was the first year/model the "drive by wire" was used?
Good luck, please post on how it turns out!!!

Thats why i'm asking for alternatives, as $4k is out of the ballpark and no other options at hand.
Do you feel comfortable with the mechanics performing the swap? I would hope it's a legit shop and not someone in their backyard.
The whole thing sounds scary to me, but good luck if you do go through it.

This is through a friend who's brother is an Adjuster and this is one of the shops he deals with...
I have tried all the area junk yards and no luck... I wouldn't even consider such a frankenstein move unless I was out of options... The downside is this was a used car and still has a loan on it.
No more spectacular discounts, rebates or offers for drive it, tow it, push it, trade ins.. so yeah I'm kinda out of options.
