2012 Mazda5 Remote Starter

We just bought a 2012 Mazda5 Touring that came with the dealer-installed remote starter. It came with a separate key fob for the remote starter and there aren't any instructions in the car's manual and I haven't found much luck online trying to find operating instructions. My dealer let me know that two quick presses will start the car and a long press will shut-off the engine, and those work just fine. The issue I'm having is that when the engine is started remotely, as soon as a door is opened, the engine shuts off. Is this how it is, or are there some other settings that i don't know about? I contacted my dealer and he didn't offer any suggestions other than to check some forums online (nice).

Interesting. I just brought home my Mazda5 on Saturday and was SPECIFICALLY dissuaded by the dealership from installing the Mazda Remote Engine Start. They tried to sell me on another product. I was inclined to go with a Viper product that allows for used via the iPhone. In any case, the biggest negative that they told me about the Mazda product was that it only worked for 3 minutes then it cut off. Could it be that you are hitting the 3 min mark?

It sounds like this an aftermarket product and not the Mazda one. It seems to be improperly installed or it lacks the security integration because the engine immobilizer or the security system is the one stopping your engine.
The Mazda one does not do that, but it is less reliable.
