stater turns over will not fire

a month ago my battery went dead in my 2002 ram 1500 5.9. i jumped it and it wouldnt idle. so i was told to charge the battery. problem fixed. i go to start it today, and it would not fire up. and then it seemed like the starter soliniod stuck. and then it wud stop. the battery was also going dead quick. could a bad battery cause all this? like its sending a signal to the computer or something? im sorry, but these newer trucks are a mystery to me. any help would be appreciated

I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 and my battery went dead but charging it doesn't seem to fix the problem. My lighter fell in the day before I started having issues (overuse, I loose every lighter I ever buy) and I washed it that same day. I am going to try and see if maybe some lose wire is draining my battery by trying to find what voltage it should be constantly draining without it running. I first need to figure out the best way to do this. The only things we have added other than factory is my audio system (I wired it myself to avoid retards and then my husband checked my work, he's a damn electrician part time), and my auto start/security system which is brand new from auto page and has not given us issues thus far. I let the husband handle that one. He has done it before and there are just too many damn colors for my blonde [non-permissible content removed] to attempt it.
One mechanic told us it could be the TPS (throttle positioning sensor), or some kind of throttle needle (haven't looked that up in the haynes yet, I hope he is not using slang).
I'll report however what I find out if you do as well.

I would check the constant 12 volt supply wire directly from the battery to your power amp foe any wear and tear especially where it goes through the firewall into the truck. Grommets come loose allowing this wire to chafe sometimes just enough to allow a battery drain and short to ground. I have the same problem in my 97 2500 V10 4x4 ext. cab. The stock rubber grommet I have this wire going through keeps coming unplugged. Though my wire is new I'm not going to give it the chance to chafe and cause a short. I plan to wrap heavy insulation around this lead just to be sure.
