Black Box in 96 Olds LSS-What is it?

Today I took my 1996 Olds LSS to the dealer for air conditioner work. Behind the glove box, tapped into the factory wiring harness they discovered a 4 1/2" x 3" x 1" plastic black box. The only labeling on it was a tag with "60024".
Six of the wires were taps but one factory wire was cut and connected to the other two. The dealer said that this is not anything GM and has no idea what it is. The local stereo/alarm shop did not know either. The car was purchased new and we are not aware of any after market add ons.

Does anyone have any idea of what this may be?
Thanks
Tom

is spy device. boris install many of them. oops, boris idiot for talking.

seriously... so what are the wires it's attached to? get one of the ten-buck model manuals for the wiring chart and codes and figure that out. if it ties to door light pins and such it's alarm. if it ties to the sound system, it's somebody's adaptor for another device.

if it has a clock face, get more life insurance :(
