2013 Cadillac ATS odometer reading

I bought a used 2013 Cadillac ATS this weekend. The mileage when the door is open says 14,112 and when the door is closed it changes to 28,221 so I'm trying to figure out why when the door is open is is lower than when it is closed. Anyone have similar issue? or does the two diff mileage readings mean something different?

One of those numbers is probably the miles left to the next service interval, or its a trip odometer that hasn't been reset. How many miles did they tell you were on the car, when you bought it?
