E-brake freak out (any help would be appreciated)

So I bought a 2000 Cabrio from a friend and its a great car, until.....last night I pulled my e-brake and it got stuck. As if the button were jammed? But the brake is set and I can NOT get it to release. Any advice or help would be appreciated!!!

    Try holding it even tighter while holding down the release button.
