1994 Isuzu Rodeo transmission/electrical problem

I am having some transmission issues with my 1994 Isuzu rodeo. It is a automatic transmission and when I am in drive, my car has poor acceleration. If I put it in low, the car accelerates fine. I crossed some wires dealing with my trailer lights and the issue would go away when I would turn my headlights on and slightly step on the brakes. I am not sure where to start looking for a bad wire or maybe someone has experienced this same issue. I took it to a mechanic and he said he has never seen anything like it in the 20 years he had been a mechanic. I am going to take out the trailer lights and follow the head light wires and break wires and see if I can find anything. Any advice would help.

What do you mean "poor acceleration"? No power, or engine misses, or a "dead" gas pedal, or ???
