2015 GTI Leasing Problem With My Dealer

Hey guys,

My dealer (Ohio, United States) just got four 2015 GTI's on their lot and knowing I am absolutely committed to buying one went over there to test drive. Low and behold they had the EXACT model I wanted: Black Automatic Autobahn Edition w/ Headlight package. I was ready to sign and drive.....but was told that absolutely NO leasing is available. Further more, was told that third party leasing through local banks was unavailable since there is no known residual value or money factor known for the 2015's yet. Does this sound right?

From contacting a few big, out of state dealers and posting in the Golf MK7 forums, I am being told that leasing IS available (was told a 15k/36month lease would be a money factor of .00158 and residual of 58%). Normally I have always had good luck with my dealer but it seems they are less than helpful with this purchase. Is that because of how new it is? Or is it because they are behind on what's going on and lacking information?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that I already posted the lease numbers on the new GTI..

    Yup.... they are right here:

The numbers came out on May 22nd, I think..

So how do I point my dealer to an official release or sheet showing these numbers? Because they literally told me yesterday they got a hold of their VW "go to" guy for leasing promotions and he said "nothing available and he has no timeline when".

    dlaunde,

This seems unusual. There should be leases available. I would suggest going to another dealer to get a second or even a third opinion.

I think it's more likely that your dealer feels he can get full MSRP or a little more, while the car is new... It's a lot easier to sell someone on a an extra $2K, when it adds $40/mo. to a $550/mo. purchase payment... Not so easy when it adds $60/mo. to a $375 lease payment...

So.. he probably doesn't want to lease it to you, because he thinks he'll get more profit from a sucker buyer.

Well, got the lease I wanted.....had to go to another dealer over 2hrs away. Severely disappointed in my dealer. Even after they got their leasing numbers in order, they were uncooperative to the ninth degree. And when I presented them with the numbers this new dealership gave me, instead of trying to match or come close they chose to bad mouth this particular dealership to get me to not go to them. Classy.

Sounds like @kyfdx pegged it - follow the money. Please write up a couple of dealer reviews.

And congrats on the new GTI!

I've lost count, but I've had contact with at least 10 salespeople in the last six weeks while we were replacing the old van. One was lost in the woods but not dishonest. One was a bit stereotypical but not all that bad. The rest were all straight-shooters (including the VW dealer) and a couple were really exceptional. I actually enjoyed most of the shopping!

Actually they were the ones least willing to deal, at least on a used Grand Caravan. Go figure.

Maybe next year we'll be all moved and I can head back to VW to check out the GTIs. There's a great looking blue one that lives just around the corner from me.
