Pontiac G6 Hardtop Convertible Top Stops Halfway

I have Pontiac G6 hard top convertible, the top only goes half way down and then stops. What's going on?

Probably one of the micro-switches or sensors that report the position of each part of the top to the FTC module (Folding Top Control). What has to happen is that a GM tech has to scan the FTC module for faults. Only certain types of scanners can access the FTC--a Tech II or equivalent. Not a simple problem to diagnosis, sorry.

Good luck with your issue. I have had NUMEROUS problems with my top since purchasing this car. Just search this forum and you'll see them all.

Right now, My top will not go up all the way... in order to get it to work properly I have to drive the car to flat service and then it works. Took the car to the dealer and they just shrugged an said "just make sure the top is put down on a flat surface" I never had to do it before so I shouldn't have to do it now. There is nothing more scary than having your car with a top stuck halfway up or down... I don't use my top now because I could get stuck somewhere with the top not working.

The dealers did not get proper training on these cars and now the models are 9 years old no one cares to help you out.

screw GM I'll never buy any GM products ever again.
