I have a 1990 accord ax 2door 5 speed. My problem is that my trunk is getting wet after it rains. I cannot find the problem. I think it may be coming from the tail lights.

Does any one have the answer

Yes, you probably have the answer....the tail light gaskets need replacing or perhaps the entire assembly needs tightening to press the gaskets for a better seal.

hmmmmn... interesting... beleive it or not ... I also have a 90 Accord LX Coupe with 5 speed.. .and have the same exact problem after it rains... (passenger side of the trunk)... I've had this for a couple of years and gave up on it...I tried tracking it down a few times but no luck... I never even thought about the tail light assembly/seals... I will definitely have to give that a shot... thanks...

I'll stake my reputation on my being right about that....of course, that's not betting much, but....

sounds promising... before I get started... can you clarify which piece is probably leaking.. ? Is it the light mechanism/seal mounted to the actual trunk lid itself.. (i.e. it goes up and down with the raising of the trunk lid)... or are we talking about the wrap around light unit/seal attached to the body of the car ?

Thanks for the advise. I try it this weekend.

Well, I guess it could be either....wherever water is leaking to pool up and enter. If there is a rubber seal, then that is a potential leak area. Why don't you take a good long look at it and try to decide where water would most likely choose to enter in the tail light assembly?

thanks ... I took a look at it today.. and it seems more likely to be the outer light assembly containing the turn blinker..as the water typical collects along outer most edge of the trunk floor... So I took the light assembly apart..and applied a bead of silicone around the gasket (looked beat up) and tightened everything up pretty good...
Now I just need a rainy day to see if it worked !!!
