Lincoln Town Car Parking Assist sensor system

Anyone had experience with the parking assist/rear sensor system? A 2004 Town Car I recently bought has that feature but it hasn't worked consistently and I can't find anyone who seems to be able to fix it.

    Try using a tooth brush to clean the sensors. (This is the 1st time I've heard of a 10 year old Lincoln having "Parking Assist")
