Lots of luck with the new Lincoln MKZ. They are definitely eye-catchers and have a superior ride. I drove one a few months ago and found it an outstanding car.

It's good car for me, this design has always suited me. Kind of under the radar, a good all weather cruiser, and has some nice features like stop and go cruise and an adjustable suspension.
Plus I wanted buy a Sedan while Fomoco is still making them, but not the last year.

Well the Sonata is sitting happily in the driveway now. :)

What kind of warranty did they give on this new engine?

They extended the warranty on affected vehicles to 10 years 120k miles, the new engine will have the remainder of that warranty. so around 2 years and just over 20k miles.
So the whole powertrain gets extra coverage? That’s great. A brand new Jasper reman engine wouldn’t have much more and the related systems like transmission get protection.

Wish I could have a disaster like that turn into a triumph.

    @oldfarmer50,
    Here's my story.
    When I turned 50 I told my wife I wanted a Lincoln, and i didn't buy one.
When I turned 60 I told my wife I wanted a Lincoln, and i didn't buy one, but she got one.
I like a sedan and just decided it was time to either get one or forget about it.
The Fusion has been great and the reason I originally bought it was because I loved the color (Magnetic Gray).
It has an awesome metal flake.
It's has been a great car, comfortable for me, other than very slow off the line.
No problems other than a couple of recalls and a botched oil change.
EPA average is 26 mpg, but I have averaged over 29.

@explorerx4, nice car. It's about time you stopped promising yourself what you wanted and finally did something about it. Good luck with it.

BTW, what is a "botched oil change" ? :o I never had one of those but I was told I botched up my oil change log sheet once and that is even worse. :@

I botched an oil change once. Didn’t check to see the old oil filter gasket was removed. Double gasket oil leak and a burned out motor. $1000 hooptie ruined. Hope that didn’t happen to his Fusion.

Nice. A friend of mine leased one maybe 4 years ago. When the lease was up, he actually bought a new one. He's 42 I think, bringing down the average - he just likes the car a lot. The current one is completely loaded, I think it has virtually everything, and is green on green.

I have two friends that have similar Lincolns. They are a bit older gentleman, and my guess is they have always thought they would never be able to buy the luxury car of their dreams. A Lincoln was something only the wealthiest people could afford in the 50s and 60s. Now it is within reach, so a Lincoln fulfills the dream.

I think Ford did a smart thing with Lincoln, take a luxury name, make the car look good, make it unique, add a lot of content, keep the price more moderate........it works.

I was just casually checking to see whether the Lincoln Corsair was in dealer showrooms. And yes, they are, but limited in quantity and colors. Edmunds suggested $40,240 for a Reserve 1 model. That sounds like a good price unfortunately no one was familiar with such a trim level.

Anyway, I contacted two dealerships for an internet price. I was quoted $38,003 for a Standard model with a $40,500 MSRP. The other quote was for a MSRP $45,970 Reserve model for $44,100. The Reserve is well equipped with a 2.0L turbo engine, panoramic roof, navigation, 360-camera, leather interior, and Revel stereo with 14 speakers. All nice features but perhaps too pricey for a compact SUV. Phew!

Here is a good one. Today is my anniversary.

My wife and I couldn’t have screwed up our gifts more to each other if we tried.

Wife decides to leave an hour before she was supposed to. I couldn’t move up flower delivery. Fail it’s sitting at her office with only a picture from one of her team. She isn’t back in the office until Tuesday so there is $150 down the drain.

Apparently my buddy asking me about subwoofers was an inquiry from my wife. I was showing him links on Amazon through the app. I get an email one was ordered ... thought it was by mistake, cancelled order. No that was the wife.

So she buys me a few outfits. Pants fall off, shirts too tight.

At least the Nike sweat outfit I bought her was a hit.

At age 62 I would have said the same, I had a manual 2008 BMW Cabriolet. But, life changes rapidly, and wants, needs and perspectives on life change faster than you think.

I started to think about things like sore backs, getting in and out, having problems shifting because of a leg or arm problem.......just saying, you never know!

Well, I dunno. The S60 T6 is a mighty nice car. I wouldn't put it totally in the "cushy cruiser" class.

Which reminds me - I saw one like yours on the road in traffic next to me yesterday, first I've seen of the new model around here. Painted in a nice metallic red with a light interior, very pretty. It contained a couple, tourists apparently, as it wore Ontario plates. What struck me odd - which just shows how times have changed - is that the female passenger up front had a large folding road map spread out on the dash in front of her and was tracing her finger along a route. Used to do that a lot years ago but I can't tell you the last time I either saw it or used one myself.

I've gone into cushy-land too. I had a couple AMG cars in the past, but now I think I am over it. The smooth manners of the E wagon (especially with the softer suspension of lux trim) suit me well now. Almost has me sometimes thinking how an ES or similar would feel (but I can't deal with the styling).

Phew!

I was at a Ford dealer the other day and they had a Mustang GT Premium for just shy of $40k with $7k+ in options for a total of over $47,000. Soon cars will just be toys for the rich.

We generally don’t do gifts for our anniversary. We do a fancy dinner or a weekend away.

In fact I’m not a huge fan of material gifts for any occasion. If I really want something I buy it. Would rather have time together. I’ve been told on numerous occasions that I should be more receptive to the fact that giving gifts aren’t just for the receiver and to be more accepting...

Experiences together are what matter -- trips, nice meals, whatever.

Stuff just turns out to be clutter. Ask me how I know.

Buying the car was not completely straight forward today.
First, they added $250 to the selling price of the car and claimed ignorance of their internet price until I showed them the price quote I got online from their dealership.
They did get me on the doc fee for an extra $100(499 instead of 399).
My original price for an extended warranty was $1895, but I countered with $1534 to match a quote I got online.
We have purchased several warranties online from the dealership I got the quote from. They matched it.
The car was supposed to come with all weather mats($120) but they couldn't find them so they gave me a better $170 set instead.
Here is a quick pic I took of the interior.

Car has a 'Hold' feature so you can take your foot off the brake when stopped.
Reminds of the Subaru hill holder feature.
Tried out the lane departure feature. It pulls you back toward your lane if you drift to the side or vibrates the steering wheel if you change lanes without using your directional signal.

I still have to cancel the Sirius radio on my Fusion.
Some of you will get a chuckle out of that :)

    That interior is beautiful.

On CT doc fees—several dealers whom I have perused like to slap a $589 doc fee on all their used cars. Total rip off in my opinion. Is there a limit to what they can charge?

I wondered why CT cars were priced about $500 cheaper than similar NY dealers but since NY caps doc fees at $75 the total is about the same. Silly games.

I’ve driven BMWs with that hill hold feature and didn’t like it. Felt like there was something wrong with the transmission until I figured out what it was. The lane assist on some Fords was like the steering was broken.

But I’m a dinosaur so ignore me. :(

The ATS has something similar although not the turn signal nanny. I have waffled between having lane departure on or turned off because I find it annoying and somewhat less than totally effective. ou can still wander if you are determined to do so which makes me question its reason for being.

Good luck with that. They will probably offer you a screaming deal to keep it active for the next owner. More likely they will resist giving you a refund by offering to apply your unused portion to this vehicle after your free trial runs out, but link it to your credit card so that they can ding you automatically for a $200+ annual renewal at some future but as yet undetermined date.
