SDA, are you right outside Myrtle beach? On my list of places to visit, and definitely would move there if I could only convince the wife. Might have to be a snowbird arrangement though, so I don’t have to listen to her whine all summer about heat and humidity!

I like the dark blue paint. I also like the idea of a monocolor interior, but would be happier if it also was blue instead of brown, though I could live with the brown. Hope this is the start of a trend.

Disputing my credit report/record with Equifax is giving me the feeling I'd probably get if I had to dispute my insurance driving record with the IIHS. It's obvious Kia Finance and other BANKS completely own and control the credit record keeping companies out there.

We are about 25 miles south of Charlotte and about 3/4 mile from the NC border. We are in what they call the SC panhandle. Myrtle Beach is about 3.5 hrs, Hilton Head about 4.5 hrs drive.

We need a new kitchen plus some work in the master bath but, think we'll be out of here by mid 2022. Also, an interior paint job is in order, at least the kitchen/family room. But, trying to save any extra cash for the wedding plus a new vehicle for me. So, certain things have been put on the back burner for now. Have always liked the Carolina's but think that might not work because the kids are liking the Orlando area. I'm just so ready to exit South Florida after almost 51 years here. Supposed to be going up there a week from Friday to cat sit and if I do, plan on looking around at some models just to see. The prices are going up and think we should've bought back when the kid did. And we both like a new build to be honest.
Now though, we're finally back to work so, next we need to start planning a small wedding. Only family and a few close friends, and a party a few weeks later. Still need to discuss locations and meet the future in-laws.

He had a fenced in area in the backyard with a pond and everything. Every fall he would get it and take in into the basement and put it in a bathtub for the winter and every spring bring it back out. Once it got to big he gave it to a relative who had a farm in Indiana where the poor thing died within a year.

@roadburner ...was thinking last night about you. Did you ever get that Sony TV you were thinking about?

The price dropped to under $2,000 two weeks before the Super Bowl so I decided to wait one more week- the price jumped by $800- just days before the Super Bowl. So I'm waiting for Black Friday to see how low the 2020 prices drop. It's really been aggravating.

I liked the mention at c. 9:30 that Jon Ikeda loves wagons, and actually had the team do an imagined TLX wagon. Probably aren't going to see that, but that would be cool.

The car sounds like it will be fun to drive. Acura seems to have gone the extra mile on the design and engineering, and I'm interested to test drive it. The car might almost have too much power in the FWD version (which is all my budget is likely to allow), but with the possibility of standard 255 tires that might help.

True, not too many alligators get in that way, mostly iguanas and Pythons.

Here in northwest Broward County, it's iguanas that are increasing in population centers. When we get a cold snap in winter (which has been rare in the past few years), iguanas fall out of trees because of the cold (40's).

Pythons are the most dangerous of our infestations because they are killing off populations of indigenous small species in the Everglades. They have become so populous that the State has raised the bounties paid to python hunters based on size (length) of captured pythons. Alligators, once an endangered specie, have flourished in recent years with bounties offered by the State for their capture.

The Everglades begin just 10 miles west of where I live.

He’s leaving the Merc down there to use whenever he or his wife stay there. At least I’ll be comfy.
He offered me $750 plus expenses. I either have to find a ride to bring back with me, or fly back via Allegiant (which will cost about $75). It will be a nice adventure.

On top of all that, the Parks and Recreation dept in my ‘burg wants me on their Board. I think I’ll take them up on that....would be fun!

I think being a "mature" driver and being insured may make a difference. He said he had bids for about the same dollar amount to transport his car. I figure one, maybe 2 overnights for the round trip. A couple of Starbucks and a couple of Panera "pick 2" lunches would be the extent of my trip requirements.

Was kind of hoping I'd get a Lambo, a Dino or an Audi R8, maybe even a Mustang KR as my first transport. Alas, it's a Merc. LOL!

I dont think so, I know that Google maps has the trip to one of my friends house (88 miles 90+% interstate) at a time that would be at the speed limit. The trip to my kids house in Florida at an average speed of just over 67.5 MPH which would not be over the speed limit.

Cannonball run? I heard the new record was set by some guys in an Audi, but the previous record holders are bitter and whiny as they want to blame COVID-19 for the excellent time.

I don't really get the argument, as then you should also ban driving between 12 AM - 6 AM when there's no traffic either. I was taught at an early age to work smarter, not harder!

780 miles usually turns into 12-13 hours, with a stop to eat/gas/bathroom, etc. Anything over 700 miles is a long, long day.

But, he has to stay overnight once he gets there. Seems doubtful he gets to stay at the condo, right? So, drive for 10 hours, stay at a Hampton, then drive on in the next morning. Catch your $75 flight out the next afternoon. Arrive home the day after you left. Easy peasy!

On the recently acquired Fusion I’ve been getting deluged with Sirius offers. I believe they’re offering a 90 day free trial. I’m sure they would link it to a requirement for a credit card which I would give to no one. I asked the kid if he’d be interested and he said he mainly listens to his own music on an IPod or something. So no desire on his part.

Since they sent it to my email I responded that I had not bought a car (it’s in the kid’s name) and to stop harassing me or I would complain to the FTC.

Sirius earned my contempt when they tried to charge me an activation fee for the “free” trial on my 2009 Chrysler. The Kia came already activated but there was nothing on there worth paying for.

Toronto to Tampa area is 1400 miles, count on 22 hours driving time...however you want to do it. Some do it in one day. We did about 10 hours the first day, 8 the second, 4 the last day, 2 nights in motels. The older you get, the harder it gets to drive that far. After 10 hours of driving in a day all I see when I go to bed at night is a highway and the dotted lines flying by in front of me.

Since the write off incident, we now fly, what took 22 hours driving and 2 1/2 days of traveling now takes 3 1/2 hours.........so much easier and doesn't take a week to recover.
