The new Michelin Primacy MXM4’s were put on the G90 yesterday at Costco. $1392 installed and out the door - included a $150 sale rebate for this month on any 4 Michelin tires installed.
My first impressions are that they provide a quieter ride, improved handling and improved cornering. I took the car on the turnpike up to 70 mph. Definitely better than the OEM Continentals that came on the car.
While waiting at the tire center, I had my first Costco hot dog and Diet Pepsi in over 15 years. Still a great bargain for $1.50 for both.
I was reviewing my emails and found a few interesting ones.
The first was from a Kia dealer touting $9500 off on a Kia EV lease. As part of the discount they included the $7500 tax credit as “Kia cash” as if this was something the dealer was giving me. Of course the $479/mo lease required $3k down and over $1k in fees.
The other thing was a notice that my Amazon Prime account had been cancelled but all I had to do was click a link to restore it. I don’t have an Amazon account. Maybe I better click the link to find out how they made the mistake…not!

The $7500 is actually a Kia rebate, as the bank gets the tax credit.
Watched the Monaco GP, always a treat for the eyes even if the racing often isn’t great. The scenery is remarkable. All of the super-yachts in the harbour are all staggeringly expensive. My favorite wasn’t the biggest ( though it was plenty big) but which had a mid-engine supercar lashed to the foredeck on a podium. I think it was a Ferrari. From the overhead shot you could see the engine through its glass cover. The money on display there this weekend was off the charts.

That was an F40 - I saw pictures earlier this week of it on the crane being moved to the yacht.
My Netflix account is in danger of getting cancelled at least once per week 🤨.
———————————————— Yep, I know what that’s like. I’ve had so many accounts I don’t have cancelled, I’m now fearful that the ones I do have are on borrowed time.
The relatively latest gimmick is informing me my subscription to service plans I don’t have has automatically rolled over at prices well over 200 bucks but if I no longer want this service just call this number. So I did. I was then asked for my CC number so they could remove the charge. I told them to just use the one that was charged. Nope, they had to VERIFY my CC number. I told them that I was sure they had the right number. After a little more dancing they hung up on me.
I guess these scams work or they wouldn’t be doing it.

Crazy and fun ending to the Indy 500. They downplayed the tire going over the fence with 14 to go, which I'm disappointed about. Hopefully nobody got hurt.

I was hoping Ferrucci would win it, for AJ Foyt's team.
But yeah, that tire getting sheared off and flying over the catch fence was a bit scary.
Received the excise tax on the BMW today; how dare they!
I was told no washing cars in your driveway ban (yet), so washed the M today. So, it will be pollen free for 3 minutes. My Zaino car wash appears to have lost its potency, no mountains of suds or bubblegummy smell. Well, it is probably 10+ years old. Maybe I'll just double the dose next time. Or use the newer Maguiar's...
Interesting sight today, went to lunch on the Cape Cod Canal. Parked at the head of a plank leading down to the docks was a black Lotus Esprit, people walking around it. I'm fairly sure it 's not a parking space. Perhaps it broke down there! Still looks slick.

Finally got the Maverick all put together. Only thing left is to stick on the tailgate letters, assuming I ever get around to ordering them!
went out this morning and installed the bed cover (I took it off the old truck since it was expensive). Went on a whole lot quicker than when I did it the first time and had a lot of confusion and some calls to the manufacturer. Knowing the tricks made it much simpler. Now with that on I can start carrying stuff in the back without worrying about it blowing out on the highway.
latest project I regret taking on. wife mentioned there was a bunch of lint in the dryer in the bottom of the slot the screen goes in. so I get out the cleaner kit, and remembered it stunk. the opening was so tight nothing really went down there. I debated taking the front of the case off but decided to try and avoid that. Probably not a good choice, but with a variety of tools got it largely cleaned out. with a very large bag of lint at the end (plus what ended up in the shop vac).
then decided to pull it out and check the back. soon as I did, the vent pipe fell off the wall connector. turns out it was on there by, well, nothing but a little friction. so had to pull it further out, and wrestle the washer to the side to be able to squeeze behind, clean, and eventually get it put back on.
looks like a typical low bidder job. The parts did not really fit. The wall outlet has what looks like one of those fancy white plastic systems where the pipe screws onto a fitting. but I don't think there was enough room for it (dryer needs to have a low profile exhaust because it can't stick out) so the put it on backwards (the end stuck on the wall is labeled "to dryer") with a flex hose in the middle to make it sorta fit. Need to investigate a replacement set-up. I know they make low profile hard exhausts (look like HVAC ducts made into a periscope) but no clue if it can connect to the wall fitting.
always something. But good thing I am still somewhat skinny so I could slide between the machines, since going over the top looked painful.

yeah, I have seen those before and was thinking about picking one up. Not sure if it will fit on the wall outlet but might be able to cobble together an adapter. If nothing else would let me push the dryer back another 3" at least. now it sticks out past the washer because the vent is so bulky.

* * I had the same problem. I cut the drywall between two studs and put the pipe in there after using some foam insulation board.
that is not an issue. there is a wall box installed. Just that the top of that (points out toward the dryer) is not a normal round metal vent pipe. it is a plastic contraption. I will post a picture.
Does that vent straight thru the wall to the outside or does it turn 90 degrees to go up and then turn another 90 to exit outside? All those 90s really can clog things up. Any way to get rid of that first one at floor level?
at the wall it goes straight down, probably about 4', then runs across the basement and comes back up the outside wall to the outside vent. Longer than I would prefer, but that is what happens when the laundry is in the center of the house instead of on an outside wall (directly behind it is the garage).
after mucking around with this I will probably have a vent cleaner come out and ream it all out (after I see if I can get a cleaner vent off the dryer installed). House is going on 3 years old now and I would not be surprised if it has never been done. dryer still dries extremely quickly so not too worried about it. and I checked the hose when I had that off and it was almost completely clean.

We moved into our current house when it was only two years old, and one of the first things we did was have the vents scrubbed out. The previous owners had a cat, and we wanted to do everything we could to ensure we had a clean environment when we moved in.
———————————————— I don’t think that flat duct I showed in my post above is going to work for your installation since that is to get the vent line a lot higher than what you have.
Just curious, is that black line a flexible gas line?

I played hell with the vent line at the shore when the guys did the floor.
They broke off the connection in the floor to the hard line that runs outside. I had to basically rejoin an extension piece (one of those swivel bends) with one hand through a 5” hole in the floor. Then I sealed it with the proper vent tape, 6” pieces at a time.
Took way longer than it should have. At one point I thought I was going to have to cut out a section of drywall in the garage ceiling.

We had our dryer vent cleaned out last month and it did make a big difference in the drying time. We've been doing it every two years which seems to work for us. Since the kids have all left, we do a lot less laundry as would be expected. Though from what I've read, after the a/c unit, the dryer is the next biggest used of power in the normal house. We usually do 5 loads of laundry each week now. Our Whirlpool washer/dryer units are about nine years old now & seem to be working fine. Speaking of washing, has anyone tried those new washing detergent sheets I see advertised on the t v? Earth Breeze I think they're called? Like the concept as there's no plastic jug waste associated with them, very good for our environment. Just wondering how good they actually do clean ones clothes? I did get an email last week about ordering some but just curious if anyone else has tried them & how they liked their performance? Using those pods from BJ's right now which come with minimal packaging & they seem to work just fine cleaning our wash.

Sandy, the plastic jugs for laundry detergent and fabric softener can be recycled; I don't know if you do that.
Topless driving, where have you been all my life! Totally enjoying the 'vert, weather (well, besides uber pollen and smoke from Nova Scotia wildfires) has been fab for driving sans top. And, as our friend Mainely Ray has oft noted, the torque is intoxicating! As I entered Rte. 128 yesterday, I got thumbs up from fellow topless drivers exiting, a young couple in a 911 vert and a Jag XK driver. But, from my glance, it appeared that the Jag had an Aston Martin winged logo attached to the hood. If so, poor form my good sir.

I love top down. my wife though is not a fan at all. she also likes to close the moonroof and shade if there is sun coming in, defeating the purpose. So top down when she is in the car would be likely reserved for night, cloudy days, and local driving that does not get too windy!
she might like something along the lines of the Miata RF since that is more of a glorified moonroof anyway.
I traced the dryer vent line out of curiosity. the pipe from the connection in the wall box (that the hose attaches to) goes straight down about 2-3', makes a 90, and runs across the basement between the joists and straight out the side wall. I would have to get my head into the ceiling, or take off the outside vent cap, to make sure but I don't think it makes any more bends to exit. If that is the case just 1 90 degree right below the dryer, and about 30' of straight pipe. And no upward runs.
I played hell with the vent line at the shore when the guys did the floor.

then decided to pull it out and check the back. soon as I did, the vent pipe fell off the wall connector. turns out it was on there by, well, nothing but a little friction. so had to pull it further out, and wrestle the washer to the side to be able to squeeze behind, clean, and eventually get it put back on.
looks like a typical low bidder job. The parts did not really fit. after mucking around with this I will probably have a vent cleaner come out and ream it all out (after I see if I can get a cleaner vent off the dryer installed). House is going on 3 years old now and I would not be surprised if it has never been done. dryer still dries extremely quickly so not too worried about it. and I checked the hose when I had that off and it was almost completely clean.

I don’t think that flat duct I showed in my post above is going to work for your installation since that is to get the vent line a lot higher than what you have.
Just curious, is that black line a flexible gas line?

Power cord. It is an electric dryer.

If so, poor form my good sir.

she might like something along the lines of the Miata RF since that is more of a glorified moonroof anyway.

Isn’t it great when you pay a “pro” to screw things up. You could have screwed it up yourself and not paid as much. That was the number one reason why I learned how to do things myself and I saved a buck too.

I’ve never seen a round 220 power cord for a dryer. The ones I’ve always seen are flat like the zip cords used on lamps and stuff.
