Are you saying your dryer came with a cord? When I was a lot younger all electric dryers came with a cord. For many years now none of the manufacturers provide a cord with electric dryers or ranges. You have to buy it new or use your old one which is what most folks do. That may have been the first sign of cost cutting.

Wires don’t wear out, only plugs and receptacles wear out due to a lot of use and since the plugs on those appliances are rarely disconnected they will last for eons. Just like your house wiring.

Just curious if anyone else has had a problem with their system? My Accord has occasionally slammed on the brakes with no emergency in sight. Usually triggered by the thick painted lines off an interstate exit ramp, or just last week a grouping of black patches of asphalt used to fill potholes on interstate. Hate to turn the system off, as it may have saved me once or twice from a fenderbender. Reported to the dealership, they acted as if they had never heard of such a thing.

Mine doesn't seem that sensitive. It takes me really running up on someone for it to work.

We recycle as much as possible, it's just that this Earth Breeze product seems to be the real deal at least from what I've seen. Also storing it would be a breeze as there's less packaging to deal with. Just seems like a good product with hardly any waste associated with it...and that works for me! Once we get low on laundry detergent, plan to give it a try just to see if it really is a good product. And if not, won't buy it again going forward. think I'll be pleasantly surprised with how good it cleans though.

I finally lost the battle. The wife decided that 82 was too hot in the house and turned the AC on tonight. Now I am freezing and had to pull out a throw blanket to cover my legs.

I don't get why people want to be cold in the house. It was perfectly pleasant in the upper 70s.

However I can vouch for the pain of sunburn on the top of the dome so a hat is still required. Past experience owning a convertible attests that keeping the hat in place can be a challenge at highway speeds. A chinstrap might be necessary.

The challenges faced by the Bald Community on a daily basis can be heartbreaking.

That sure doesn't seem right. Somethings wrong.

Occasionally one of my cars would start to brake when someone was turning and I got too close. I knew the other car would be out of the way by the time I got there, but the system didn't. None of them has braked because of painted lines or filled potholes.

My driveway slopes down and sometimes it wants to brake when backing out. I had a Subaru that would occasionally slam on the brakes when backing out.

That’s because they changed the receptacles for the 220 plug over the years. If they included a cord it might not fit older outlets.

Fortunately none of my vehicles have those nannies. Some of the minivan’s at work have what I consider overly sensitive collision avoidance system that blare warnings when you come up behind another vehicle too fast for its liking. Very distracting and for me, dangerous as all the alarms and lights takes my eyes off the road.

Those systems probably wouldn’t be necessary if people would get off their phones when driving.

The wind blocker in the M240 does a good job, haven't lost a hat yet. Occasionally, it does catch a small breeze, but hasn't blown off. I do keep 3-4 in the car (with sunscreen). So far, totally worth it!

The collision warning/braking system in the A7 is really good, gently slows the car down well in advance of an oopsie; haven't yet got to the point where the system fully engages.
Wife's Mazda system was brutal, brake slam at occasional inopportune times.

MBs have had this for years. In prior cars, it could be intrusive when I intentionally didn't slow down when a rolling road block in front of me was turning off the road at 2.3 mph (don't want to tip over!) - it would chime and sometimes brake. The new car is much less sensitive, it'll chime now and then, but won't grab the brakes unless danger appears imminent (I am pretty sure brake assist took over the other day when I was on I-90 and had to stand on the brakes because a moron in front of me came to a near stop to yield and let someone merge onto the 60 mph highway).

No problem(s) with emergency braking on my G90, but I have experienced a warning alarm every so often caused by traffic signage on the left side of the vehicle when entering the far left-turn lane.

O.k. Yeah, happens on my car every 2 or 3 months.
Usually a mild to moderate braking that I can get out of by tapping brake. Rare occasion it will brake hard and I'm thinking if someone wasn't paying attention they'd rear end my car， thus having the opposite effect the system was designed for. Surprised Honda doesn't have a TSB or recall on it.

With litigation being what it is today I don’t think you’d have too much trouble finding a lawyer to sue someone about your problem.

That mirrors my experience with the C43 as well; no real issues to speak of.

When dryer manufacturers provided a cord years ago (50s, 60s, 70s and I think 80s) they provided the proper cord for a dryer. Which was rated at 30 amps and had 2 straight prongs and an L shaped prong for the neutral. If someone changed the receptacle over the years to a 50 amp receptacle with 3 straight prongs (typically for use with ranges), they installed the wrong receptacle for a dryer and I’ve seen this done several times. So the owner would have to use a 50 amp cord that should be used for an electric range. While this isn’t unsafe it’s an overkill for a dryer and just propagates the problem for subsequent owners of the house that have dryers with proper 30 amp cords.

I like the adaptive cruise control in the Passat. Not often, but it sometimes it gets confused and brakes hard for no reason. But what gets me is the acc will start to brake at the same time I am interceding by putting my foot on the brake pedal which causes it to brake much more aggressively than intended. That makes for an abrupt and unnerving experience.

Is the world going nuts? Twice this week while driving on a two lane rural road I have been nearly hit by oncoming cars that swung out into my lane while passing a vehicle parked on the shoulder. These entitled dopes just crossed the double yellow and drove right at me like I was supposed to take take the ditch or something? I’ve also seen people cutting across multiple lanes to make left turns without looking.

I was on the interstate the other day and I passed an older Audi A5. Maybe a 2010 vintage. The back end was hopping up and down like a toad as even the smooth pavement induced severe oscillations. Obviously the rear shocks (if he even had any) were completely shot. I don’t know how anyone could even drive like that.

Could this be a sign of people ignoring maintenance in a bad economy?

Probably a combination of that and the kind of car that attracts neglect when on its 6th owner and recently sold at a BHPH lot at 27% interest. Maintenance costs as much as on a new one, yet the current owner doesn't have the same kind of money laying around. Typical fate of many premium cars.

OK, I confirmed the facts for a Walmart incident.

Grandson #4 works at a Walmart and last week while he was on his break, he and a friend went out to the parking lot. Not too long after they got there a real argument erupted between a couple that just exited the store. As they got closer to their car it got even worse with the guy yelling, “just wait till I get my gun in the glove box. That’ll shut you up once and for all”. My Grandson said quite a crowd was witnessing the argument but once they heard that they scattered. Fortunately, nothing happened. As usual, for today, a few folks had their cameras out and recorded the whole thing. Someone said they were going to call the police because they captured the license number as they drove away.

I wonder if they did, if the police could do anything? Maybe they could charge the guy with making a threat.

Never heard of stuff like this in a Nordstrom parking lot.

The GLE53 isn't all that interesting, but I wouldn't turn down a GLE63 S. Still, I''d prefer a sedan or coupe instead.

What a disappointment. After a week of sunny, beautiful weather (including temps in the 80s Thursday and Friday), today is windy, rainy with temp around 50. Was going to take a drive to a Cars and Coffee at the Jag dealer in the old 'hood; alas it was not to be.
But, there is a classic car show here in a couple of weeks.

My take on the whole "SUV Coupe" concept?

They are the modern incarnation of the 70's personal luxury coupes (Cordoba, T-Bird, Grand Prix) - meant to appeal to the single person or the older couple who don't have to worry so much about passengers, but still want that "command of the road" view point and a fair amount of storage.

Since the wife and I fall into the latter category, I'll admit I've been eyeing the X4 - but, only in the M40i guise. Would be a nice replacement - and upgrade - to the Outback when the time comes.

I don't think any of the domestic manufacturers offer anything similar, do they?

We're in a new Belle Epoque, and the most expensive potato CUV on the lot will have appeal to a certain buyer demographic.
