Toyota is sliding backwards in quality as they charge forward trying to be the world's largest automaker. One of the reasons people bought Toyotas over and over is the quality of the switch gear. Everything used to engage with a solid click and you could feel that it engaged without having to look.
Yeah, the 'knobs' are very loose and they are so flush that they are very difficult to grip. You kind of have to slide your finger across the silver ring. It is more of a ring than a knob. Big flaw.
I understand that they didn't want to use huge 4runner style big knobs but at least half the size will be more useable than the ring. At least they didn't do the worst application which is buttons up and down, where you have to push it 35 times to go from cold to hot....I hated that on my last car.
Can't agree whatsoever with you Josh (and other comments below). Every time I've used these knobs I have never thought to myself any such thoughts that they're sloppy or hard to use or that they feel like they won't last long. They're perfectly fine...maybe you have a lemon knob?
Many other owners have the same criticism. Not a lemon. And not a complete failure of a design, just could be better.
