A/C issue with 2012 Chevy Suburban

Today, when it cranked my truck it made a Gof Awful noise from under the hood. I quickly turned the car off to look under the hood. When I cranked the truck again, everything seemed fine however, the a/c will blow but the snowflake that makes it blow cold will no longer stay lite and blinks...then turns off. Any ideas?
