Ford has released official horsepower and towing numbers on the two new engines in the 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck lineup.

This seems like an odd comparison (did they mean the Tundra?) the Tacoma is very dated in design, the 2014 Tacoma still uses rear DRUM brakes (Yes it does use rear drum's for those of you un-familiar with Toyota Tacoma) dated 5-speed auto, The V6 gets horrid fuel economy, no sunroof option, the list goes on (and 'rumor' no changes for 2015? So rear drums again, fuel sucking V6, etc) I think the 2015 F150 will easily beat the Tacoma in every aspect of performance, towing, hauling. About the F150, I have never been a fan of SMALL liter turbo engines for any car/truck, they tend to run HOT, and historically you really have to "wind them out" to get the HP/Torque and there's long term durability (Turbo(x2) replacement?). A timing belt or water pump is enough to worry about. If I cross shop the 2015 F150, it will be a Non-turbo engine option for myself.

I agree, but remember the strategy that Ford wanted to use for the F-150. They did not want to bring back the Ranger, so they decided to let the F-150 be one size fits all. (Tundra walks the line on competition with F-150 and smaller engine F-250.) On your point with the turbo charged motors, I don't know why they don't start throwing diesels in these one ton pickups. Dodge has done it, and so far has been successful, but long overdue. Engineer a 3.0 liter turbo diesel inline six, or borrow from another manufacturer. All of these manufacturers need to jump on this bandwagon. A BMW 335d is putting out over 400 lb-ft of torque. Hello!
