what to expect down the road - 2009 Jetta

Daughter is going to be given 2009 Jetta dual clutch gas car that has been sitting for over two years not running. Figure new battery belts fluids new tires etc. normal maintenance stuff has to be addressed but looking at some of the discussions about transmission problems what else can she expect to find wrong in this car. We have wonderful mechanics that have work on our auto's forever but we have always had chevy gm ford products. They do work on all makes of cars but maybe info you could provide could help them look for other problems if they exist. Thanks
