After driving the 2015 Kia K900 for the first time, I think it deserves more attention.

Looks like an over-sized Camry. In other words, boring and appliance-like.

I'm sure I've seen this model on the road. Or maybe it was an Optima. Or a Forte.

You're not getting any looks because it's an old man's car without the prominent badge. History has repeatedly shown that the K900/Equus is likely to fall under the same fate as the Phaeton and Millenia.

I personally am interested in this car and would love to hear more about it. I'm one of the minority that doesn't care about a luxury badge. I like nice cars, but don't care one iota about prestige or status. Maybe that's why I drive an 8 year old Acura RL.

The Phaeton only lasted a few years in the US, and sales continually dropped. The Equus went on sale for MY '11 and sales so far this year in the US are up over '13, so you can forget that with the Equus. So far in the US, the K900 is 383 units from beating the Phaeton's first year sales and the V6 hasn't even gone on sale yet, so it's hard to imagine it won't do better than the Phaeton. It should also be remembered that neither of these cars are sold by all dealers, only those who agreed to special training to sell them, whereas if memory serves correctly, VW dealers were pretty much forced to take at least one, to be sold the same way Jettas were. Also, no new plant for built for either H-K car.

So I think it's premature to call either a failure, certainly not a Phaeton-grade failure, even it's wholly fair to say neither have been a runaway success.

I couldn't find any sales data for the Mazda.
