2002 Buick Rendezvous hose broke. Help!

so i was driving and my 2002 buick rendezvous starting overheating quickly. there is a hose towards the rear of the engine that busted. first...what is this hose and second...is this something that can be fixed at home or do i need to take it in? thanks for any and all help!!

That looks like a heater hose.

Unless you have the right know how, tools and patience I don't think I would mess with it myself.

Hopefully the overheating wasn't severe and you didn't damage your engine. I think I would
have it towed to a competent shop and have them fix it.

Since the car is 12 years old make sure they eiter replace or at least inspect the other hoses at the same time. They were all installed at the same time and they are probably all deteriorated as the one that let go.

thank you very much for your input. i decided exactly that today. i have free towing with my insurance so they towed it downtown for me. got it all fixed and good to go now. thanks!!!
