    I wonder if having so many different drivers is what messes with this particular gearbox. I've driven A-Classes in Europe with the same transmission and didn't find nearly as much to complain about. The wonky/unpredictable off-the-line behavior is infuriating, but once underway I found it smooth and quick to respond.
