Are you referring to that piece of metal with the three screws? If so, it look more like an inspection/service access panel than an expensive detail.

Terrible detail. It looks aftermarket, specially with these exposed rivets. Are you sure it's OEM?

@banhugh, Definitely OEM. And you won't be saying it is "terrible" if you ever see the detail in person. They are a remarkably elegant touch and if you've ever been in an old-school luxury car they will make you nostalgic. My 1971 280SE 3.5 has
