Sometimes there will be what's called a "bonus car" where the dealer decides to take a loss on one specific vehicle (in this case, yours) in order to receive a larger bonus for hitting monthly sales goals.

Or, they might be willing to sell you an Altima at a loss in order to get an allocation of a more popular, profitable model; maybe a higher end Altima, or an additional GT-R. I know Honda dealers in the past would typically let Accords and Civics go at losses in order to get more allocations of Odyssey minivans, because Honda forced them to take x number of Accords and y number of Civics in exchange for 1 Odyssey.

Typically the bonus situation will occur as you get to the end of the month, while the 2nd situation can occur anytime.

Does this price sound fair? A 2009 Altima Coupe (automatic transmission with 1000 miles) lists $19,000.
  • How does the price of $22173 sounds for 2009 SL wih connection package. This includes 500 college grad and 1500 cash back

I received a quote for an '09 Altima 2.5 (this is the one without the radio) for $15,990. With 7.75% sales tax and dealer fees, the out-the-door price is around $17,700. This is including the current $2,500 incentives.

What do you guys think? Also, what are peoples' thoughts on the 2.5 vs. the 2.5S? The radio isn't a huge deal for me....the 2.5 still has air conditioning, auto CVT trans, power everything, etc. Not sure what else I'm missing out on vs. thw 2.5S though.
  • I got a 2.5 S including the convenience, convenience plus and the connection package + kick plates out the door for 22910 (including tax,8.75% and everything). the MSRP was 26k+. how is it? I also got the karr alarm for additional 399$.
the 22910 was the best price I found in almost 15 dealerships around my area in southern California. the next best price was almost 800$ more than this.
  • Hey Focker, want to share the dealer name? I'm looking right now in so. cal. have checked about 6 dealers. Your deal is awesome!
  • '09 altima 2.5s
    conv. package
    conv.+ package
    SL package
    qouted for $25,500
lease qoute is $269 a month for 39 months with $2500 down

i played 3 dealers against each other, started at $309 a month and 4 days later i'm at $269 a month.

i see people posting that they got the $1500 rebate on there lease. on the nissan website it says that the rebates cant be used toward the lease, so how did you guys do it?

This price is from central jersey and cant seem to get better, but i'm gonna wait till thursday before i go to the dealership.

Is it OTD price? If is, it is a good price. SInce I will try to get the SL package for OTD price for 21k. This include 500, 1500 and 1000 incentives. Today I got the quoto for convenience package only for OTD 20.7K and I asked for a free upgrade to the SL model in the email (I really don't want to piss off the manager on site).
I will see what I can get on Monday and keep in touch!

How much do the tinted rear window and rear doors, and wheel locks? I can't find these options. Sounds like a good price.
  • wenterwenter Posts: 2
Wheel locks are about $45. The car was from a showroom (sitting inside the building) so they tinted windows - i did not have to pay for it

Snagged an '09 Altima 2.5 for $15,990. Out the door near Cleveland, it came to $17,717. This was an advertised special in the paper....only one in stock. White color....not my favorite, but I can't complain for over $2k less than the 2.5S.
  • I am in Houston area and got quoted 23,500 +TTL after 1,000 cash rebate+2.9%APR 60 mo. for 2.5SL+convenience+convenience plus.

Can you tell me if its a good deal or I can do a lot better?
  • madpistolmadpistol Posts: 126
I think you can do a little better. That should be about what you pay for a 2.5SL w/ Connection pkg. Try and get it for $23k + TTL. That should be a pretty good deal.
  • thanks madpistol

after playing with 3 dealers in the area, I am gona buy 2009 2.5SL after 1000 cash bonus+500 grad rebate+ttl = 24,000 out the door. :shades:

Anyone heard any grumblings about May 2009 Rebates?
I am guessing they are going up... a bunch.

I reviewed the sales of the Maxima and Altima since August. The numbers look horrible regardless of what the dealers are telling us. Year over year sales:

    AUG 08 +15%
    SEPT -19.1%
    OCT +33%
    NOV -37.2%
    DEC -16%
    JAN 09 -30.3%
    FEB -38.4%
    MAR -26.4%

    AUG 08 -.5%
    SEPT -42.4
    OCT -18.5%
    NOV -45.3%
    DEC -31.2%
    JAN 09 -34.7%
    FEB -31.5%
    MAR -37.8%

I am interested to see April's numbers that should be release next Monday.
  • Anyone know about May incentives/rebates? I would think with low sales figures quoted on this board and new models coming, that Nissan would be boosting incentives to get rid of 2009 models. After a glance at the incentives page, this doesn't seem to be the case for May. Looking to purchase the end of this month in Houston.
  • Thanks for the response. Are the incentives not posted until later in the month? When I checked this morning, the only incentive for the altima was $1,000 cash for those who had previously leased. Like you with the dismal sales figures you posted, I would think the incentives would be better. Where are these sales numbers coming from? Thanks for posting them!

    I google 'nissan sales february 2009' or whatever month I want to see. Here is one result: - - - - - - =/www/story/03-03-2009/0004982287&EDATE=

Some have each model like the link above does. Auto Channel usually only has an overall summary and nothing to specific.

Nearly all rebates expired at the end of April. May rebates should be released by 3pm central time according to a dealer I spoke to. They are anticipating larger rebates too.

APRIL 2009 sales numbers Year over Year

Maxima +62.7% - nice recovery, but still -17% for the year which has to be a huge disappointment in the first year of a model overhaul.
Altima -46.9% and -37.7% for the year. I am thinking some big rebates are coming on Altima's.

    OK folks,

Last Thursday (April 30) I bought a 2008 Altima 3.5 SE that was still new on the lot. Precision Gray, 276 miles on the odometer. Here are the details...

    MSRP - 27,700
    List - 21,995
    Rebate - 1,000
    Trade-In - 500 (1997 Ford Escort w/186k miles)
    Final Price - 20,495
    TTL - 1510.53

    Financed - $22,005.53

Thoughts, comments, :confuse: I was happy with the deal.

Also, will I get any tax advantage for turning a 1997 Escort?

I was quoted 19,000 for a 2009 Altima 2.5 S with Convinience Package. This is in NJ. Does anybody know if this the best deal or if i can get a better deal at a different dealership?

  • Hi...I'm new to this! Here's my problem....out the door price on the altima is 20,316.00 - is it any good. Now I found out that the 2.5 sedan doen't have stereo or such....should I go for the 2.5s because that a standard. how about the price- can I do better....or just wait until July! Help....

lookn4altima: I got my 2.5 for $17,717 out the door in April ($15,990 before taxes, fees, etc). At the time there was $2,500 cash back (I believe it's less now). Tax where I live is 7.75%, and I was taxed on the amount BEFORE the Nissan cash back. Dealership also charged a $250 doc fee.

My advice: wait till Nissan offers more cash back on the Altima again. It WILL happen...maybe later this month? Also, e-mail local dealer Internet departments and ask them for their BEST price. Check the paper for advertised deals.

Are you paying cash or financing? That will play into how much cash back you can get as well. I paid cash.

The 2.5 is full featured - even comes with the intelligent key w/ keyless entry, etc., air conditioning, ABS. Just doesn't have a radio...though you can get the factory one on eBay for $100 and plug it right in! The car does have speakers in the doors already.

    Good luck!

  • Hello All,

Looking to purchase the 2.5S '09 Coupe this weekend and my lowest price thus far is $22.5k + taxes+DMV fees. Includes Premium and Convienence Packages, mats and kickplates.

Looking for some input if this is a good deal or not.

    Thanks in advance.

took a couple of days of work but finally bought a 2.5 altima yesterday here in oregon....where we do not have to pay sales tax......and i ended up paying 16,900 after the $1,500 rebate and locked in at 4.99% interest. I think I got a good deal, and yes i will have to get a stereo installed..............soon!
  • birddoginbirddogin Posts: 2
I just posted my purchase of the 2.5 @ $16,900. They tried to up sell me to the 2.5S with premium and convienence pkg for $19,000 and i thought about it but they wouldn't go to $18,000 and i didn't care about the seat pockets electric drivers seat, stupid door lock feature etc..... saved $2,100 and will have to pay to install a stereo couple hundred dollars or $500 from the dealership
  • Thanks for the reply. 19k for premium?? not a bad deal at all. Where are you located? I'm in NY and I'm still stuck at 22.5k. They won't budge.
