    Very cool. That would be a hot feature on many vehicles. Keeping everything in the cabin just right! ;-)

    Know what it apparently cannot do? Just as in my 2014 MINI Cooper, you cannot link/unify the two zones into one, if you so choose to (e.g. if you're the only passenger). This is a feature common to most every other car with automatic climate control, but not seemingly in BMWs.

    Even more unique is the 7 Series. I had an older E38. It has a full dual-zone: temperature, air direction, and fan speed. This feature continues to exist in today's 7 Series, too. It's great because I don't like a lot of breeze hitting me, but my partner does, and he can have all the breeze! The only other one I've seen that has this feature is Porsche.

    BMW has always bundled a lot of nifty features into its climate control systems. I always wonder why more don't follow suit.

    @gillygan1_,

    The Benz S-Class has offered the same setup since the W221, Bentleys and Rollers also offer a similar setup.

    It also has tiny buttons with small graphics instead of big and easy to use dials........pair that with the small orange displays and you are back in 2002!

    Lots of cars offer these features. The only car I've owned without zone adjustable fan speeds is my former X3. The rest have had full dual zone.

    @juddhol10,

    I'm not sure we are all on the same page. Aside from some recent (last 10 years) Audis, BMWs, Benzes, and super-lux brands, full multi-zone fan control is extremely rare.

    mercedesfan: ah... good to know about M-B S-Class. It's hard to tell from pictures, not always obvious. My last M-B was the W220, which didn't have the full dual-zone. Never been inside Bentleys or Rolls... can't even afford a used one. heh.

    I hadn't noticed this feature in the newer BMWs. This may well sell my wife on a new one instead of another good condition preowned model.

    This is a really nice feature that I would love to have. My own car has tri-zone (dual front, plus rear). In other words, the temp is dual-adjustable in the front, but the mode and fan speed are locked. The rear has its own temp, mode & fan speed. I wish I could dial down my own fan speed while my wife has hers set to "hurricane" as usual...

    My 2006 Acura RL also has dual "mode" climate control. Driver and passenger can independently control temperature and fan mode. Fan speed however, is always the same for both sides.
