2006 Honda Civic paint chipping around lamps

I have a 2006 civic auto 1600cc sedan , model fd4.
Before summer, the boot door has been replaced with a brand new one (painted at a local shop).
During (the very hot) summer , paint started chipping at the line where the rear lights are fitted. I talked to the body shop and they said to loosen a bit the bolts that hold the lights. I am guessing that due to summer heat the lights expanded and crashed the paint.
Is this the case? Would loosening the bolts solve it really? How can I prevent chipping from I expanding? Any advice would be appreciated.
