    What is that green light in the middle of the speedometer?
    Personally, I always do a break in on new cars, even if the dealer says that it is unnecessary. I know that it's tough to not play with the new toy, but I can tough it out for a few weeks! However, if I had this toy, it definitely would have been much more difficult to wait!

    That light is there to remind you that you need to step on the brake before you can shift the car out of park. Basically a light for the sake of being a light.

    Um, no - you did not test an early-build prototype a month ago...you tested it in May of 2013 and re-posted that test a month ago. That has now mysteriously disappeared from the Edmunds website, for some reason. There are no early-build prototypes of this car still floating around in the VW press fleet, and there have not been probably since last winter.

    In that test, you stated that the car has very little torque under 2800 rpm (rated at 258 lb/ft@1600), which would be a radical departure from every VW turbo four made in the last 15 years. We'll see if you still think that when you test this one.

    Now that the engine break-in has been accomplished no doubt the engine breakdown is just around the corner.

    Actually I know a few people who owned VW's and they say that the engine is usually never a problem. It's everything else connected to and around the engine that will break. Gonna give VW a chance. Unlike some others they admitted that reliability is there biggest problem and will improve. Hyundai said the same thing and backed it up with impressive results so maybe this may be a new VW. Or maybe old since the VW's of old (think original GTI and Rabbit) were pretty tough cars.
