VW Eos hood won't open

Hello,I am new here. I just got a certified 2009 EOS LUX. I went to check under the hood and the inside release doesn't work. Have you ever heard of this?

    VW hood releases have been known to fail after a number of years. The plastic piece is weak, and when you slam the hood down, the piece gets weaker and weaker.

    Some places sell aluminum hood pulls, which eliminates this problem.

    My 2003 hood puller was plastic and broke off also. I changed it to an aluminum one.
