Looks like a $14K car with aftermarket wheel from the side. Just looks weird and unfinished to me. I doubt this will make any WRX owners envious despite costing 10k more and having a bit more power.

To me this is the "grown up" alternative to the Subarus. I doubt that many potential buyers will be cross shopping the two despite the similarities in specifications. I am not really interested in the Evos and WRXs of the world. For me the extra refinement and "stealthy" quality of the Golf R make it more desirable. I test drove the Mk6 R and was not impressed for the price. It sounds like VW may have fixed the issues I had with that generation of R. I am probably not going to pre-order one but when they show up at local dealers I will definitely be interested. I test drove a Mk7 GTI a few weeks ago and was really impressed. What makes more sense? A $32,000 GTI or a $40,000 Golf R?

Looks like 2016 Golf R deliveries have started. Do we have an info on lease numbers yet?
