Audi A4 accelerator problem

having a strange problem with my 2004 a4 cabriolet sometimes when driving i feel it lose power when this happens i can put my foot right to the floor on the gas pedal and nothing until i pull off and pump the pedal then it goes back to normal, no CEL on any ideas i would appreciate any help
