Why does my 2004 Suburban go into engine protect mode when we use the cruise control?

When we use the cruise control on our 2004 Suburban it will go into engine protect mode. Sometimes you can run for a long time and others just a few minutes. We have replaced the throttle body and the wiring for the throttle body but it still happens. After you turn the car off for a few minutes it starts and runs fine but dont use the cruise control.Where do I start to look for the issue?

I assume by engine protect mode its the 'reduced engine power' thing? I believe it can happen for number of reasons and it needs to be scanned to fin out which one your vehicle is experiencing. Some where or other I have also seen where code goes missing after restart so its necessary to limp it to dealer when it happens so they can scan it before its shut off
